[Somehow this post got erased but I just recovered it (tech skills?) – so it’s from nearly a month ago] Good on their own, simple soups like the above are also excellent recipe starting points. Remember this cheater soup? Or this one? Or this one? It’s kinda the same process. Imagine’s soups are great for this blank canvas kind of cooking. Trader Joe’s makes similar products. And Amy’s has some good ones too. I made this meal my own by adding fried tempeh. Tomato for him, butternut for me. I added peas and a dash… Read more >

This product right here was reason enough for me to go against my usual standards and indulge in non-organic greek yogurt. I only bought two, proving that self restraint does in fact exist within me. It’s tangy, tart, and only slightly sweet with hints of ginger and orange. I loved it. Had Kyle not been shopping with me, we’d probably have 500 in our fridge right now. I wonder how long they’ll have these seasonal treats in stock? Runner up in the pumpkin department goes to this coffee blend. Still obsessed. Next item on… Read more >

My memory is gone. Apparently this pregnancy brain fog thing is the real deal. I forgot our garage code last month and had to call Kyle to remind me what it was (I have no idea how my mind blanked out about that since I punch in the four numbers so regularly). And I almost missed a work shift because I had my schedule wrong (I am so lucky the charge nurse called me a few hours beforehand otherwise I definitely would have been a no show at the hospital). I’m constantly going upstairs to… Read more >

I’ve made pancakes more than oats this week. And if you don’t understand how huge that is, you don’t know me very well. Pancakes are just awesome. On the left: almond butter and bananas On the right: peanut butter/maple syrup and bananas Kyle’s been out of town, so I have been sleeping in, making big batches of pancakes and eating them while watching TV on my computer. So lazy. Aforementioned “big batches” last me until well after noon. So I figure if I’ve had a few courses of pancakes, it counts as breakfast AND lunch,… Read more >

Laziness continued. Coffee. Coffee. Fruit. Coffee. A perfect Sunday morning (“morning” being used loosely since I slept in a LOT). Random fact: I really love fruit salad but I never make it because I like it when it’s already at least a day old. That means I have to plan ahead so I get the exact level of oxidized fruit. I also think that bananas are the essence of any good fruit salad. That’s why I made this salad the night before. It had apples, strawberries, pineapple, blackberries, and bananas. If it… Read more >
