The start of something

Hello 1-1-11!  So nice to meet you.  I know you will be bringing me 365 days of joy.  Before I dig in, though, allow me to share how I dined on the last day of 2010.  Chico, California has a fairly decent hippie population so I wasn’t too surprised when our brunch on the 31st at Cafe Coda had delicious vegan options aplenty. In addition to the two huge french presses (see above), we ordered champagne for the whole table.  It’s never too early on New Year’s Eve right? I got the Veggie Masterpiece which… Read more >

Govinda’s

I’d been looking forward to Saturday’s date with Lynn since we first lined our lunch up last month.  Unfortunately, I didn’t get to bed on Friday night until almost 4 am.  Oops! Clearly I woke up regretting that scheduling decision. Flashback Friday: Hawaiian honeymoon day 6

The last day 🙁 How sad that I’m now reliving the angst that accompanied this island goodbye all over again… Since our flight’s departure wasn’t until 5 pm, we decided to make the most of our last day on Kauai and drive up and around to the Northern part of the island that we hadn’t yet seen.  Along the way we stopped for lunch at a local veg-friendly joint that had been recommended to us for a good meal.  Mermaids Cafe was a hop, skip, and a jump away from being a ghetto hole-in-the-wall place. … Read more >

Gala-vanting at the Ferry building

Up to this point in the weekend, the food at the festival had been good.  Just good.  Not great.  Nothing had wowed me.  In other words, I was still waiting to go gaga over something. In spite of this, I strutted into the Ferry Building with my chin up high.  Brush that dirt off yo shoulder. Having seen the menu beforehand, my expectations weren’t high.  In fact, I was a bit nervous about how vegan-izable the meals would be.  Especially given the minimal veg-friendly options available at the previous Foodbuzz events. From left to right… Read more >

Vegan waffle taste testing

Last weekend, Kyle and I were invited to brunch. However.  This was no ordinary Sunday brunch.  This was a gathering in the name of brand management (which for me, just meant vegan taste testing). With a task like that, how could I refuse!?! I’m not sure how specific I can get in explaining this…but the main points you need to know are the following: Kyle’s in MBA school MBA school is all about networking Kyle has a classmate who has a vegan girlfriend Kyle mentioned that he, too, has a vegan sig-o (FYI sig-o =… Read more >
