Wilshire-versary

Soooo, let’s just get this out of the way.  There’s been a glitch in the system.  Thanks to Google I have no account, and so my life is a little bit scrambled at the moment.  I feel oh-so-lucky to be one of the chosen deactivated 0.02% (sarcasm much)… I’m sorry the announcement of my giveaway was delayed (I couldn’t access the chart I was tracking everyone’s entries on).  Sorry kids!  It appears a peace treaty has been reached between myself and Google right now.  Let this be a lesson, though – back yo shiz up! … Read more >

Vegan love truffles

Love.  Love.  Love. You can pretty much slap any romantic words in front of a meal name on the 14th and it’s instantly a cupid-themed treat, right?  (Well, maybe not mushy) This morning’s oats were anything but ordinary – they were hot and steamy. 🙂 The add ins were semi-special.  Mostly because there was no moderation whatsoever in the amounts used.  Sure it looks like a simple spoonful of raw almond butter above, but I actually added in the entire remaining portion seen below. Sights unseen

This weekend was so much fun.  I had Friday through Sunday off and Kyle was actually caught up with all his MBA shiz, so we got to spend a lot of time relaxing (together). I’ve shown you the d & e meals, but Superbowl Sunday was definitely the highlight.  PACKERS what whaaaat!    Friday morning started with an early breakfast for me.  I was up and at ‘em with the sun garbage trucks (which was fine since I had fallen asleep at 7:30 the night before).  I made myself a warm bowl of oats and buckwheat. … Read more >

Corn flour & coconut tofu

There’s quite a bit of confusion surrounding the difference between corn flour and cornmeal.  They are not entirely different, but after doing further research, I found the following.  1. Corn flour is ground finer than corn meal 2. Corn flour has a stronger taste 3. Corn flour is more commonly used as an ingredient in a recipe, whereas cornmeal is a staple in many countries’ diets. 4. Cornmeal can be made from white, yellow, or blue corn (or any combination of the three). I chose Bob’s Red Mill Corn Flour on a whim.  Theirs is… Read more >

The proof is in the pudding

They say evidence is damning.  And I have to agree.  My camera has been revealing some of these truths.  Here’s proof… …that I should always cook oats on the stove or eat them raw  …that working three shifts in a row can cause you to add extra zeros (at least it was the microwave – which has far less disastrous consequences than a patient’s meds!) …that everything is salvageable (just add nut butter) …that I will never get bored of apples …that you can make quinoa “ghetto” …that my patients are turning me into a… Read more >
