Savory leftover meals

Peek-a-boo!   Breakfast, lunch or dinner…it doesn’t really matter…some things are good at any time of the day. Like grains and beans with a fried egg on top.   Or savory oats with tofu ricotta. Having leftovers makes waking up easy delicious.  It’s as easy as one, two, three… Making the meal only takes as long as it takes to boil water.  1 cup whole rolled oats + 1 1/2 cups water + pinch of salt    1 fried egg + 1 scoop tofu ricotta   If you’re wondering, yes, it tasted as awesome as… Read more >

Monday & Macaroons

Kyle and I celebrated our Valentine’s Day early.  We just used the holiday as an excuse to hit up a restaurant that’s been on our mind for a while.   Akasha is one of those places that has a menu for true foodies.  It’s based around fresh, seasonal, and local ingredients – with vegetable quinoa listed next to Niman Ranch beef burgers.  I love a diverse menu packed with yummy quality ingredients. Ok, before I get ahead of myself, I have to show you what my poor husband has to deal with on a daily… Read more >

Italian Amore

It’s been a while since I’ve made lasagna.  Kyle reminds me of this every month or so.  It’s one of his favorite dishes.  I went through the HHH archives and although I’ve showed the final products a few times, I’ve only posted a recipe once on the blog (a very long time ago). An attempt at entirety

Ready for an entire day of food?  It’s rare that I do these kinds of posts anymore and after yesterday I realized why.  It’s hard to get everything! For example, I had a bagel set out for breakfast, but when I got up I didn’t feel like it.  Correction, I felt like something else.  A cookie to be specific.   That’s because this tupperware was sitting on the counter mocking me as I made my coffee.  I knew if I didn’t have one, I’d be thinking about them all day and would likely have a… Read more >

Green thumb

Literally. Who knew massaging kale could turn your nails green!? I’ve been avoiding roasting beets due to the skin dyeing side effects, but this is almost as unattractive.  At least my patients won’t be as scared off by this color though.  Green nails are one thing, I suspect red hands could be interpreted a bit differently… So, about that kale. Stemmed. Scrubbed. Ripped. Oiled. Rubbed. And that’s how the base of this beauty came to be! The rest of the ingredients need no introduction as they are all hippie standards, quinoa, carrots, and tofu. But… Read more >
