I’ve been obsessed with Whole Foods’ vegan tempeh salad forever. If it’s at the salad bar, I have a very hard time passing it up. Sometimes I use the soup containers and just buy a 1/2 pint of it for a few days worth of meals…I add it to grains, greens, toast…anything and everything (click here for proof!). A google search combined with some of my own sleuthing (aka writing down the ingredient list off the WF container) produced this recipe… Whole Foods vegan tempeh salad (vegan, gluten free) 16 ounces tempeh (I like Lightlife’s… Read more >

This past week has been work heavy, which is why I’ve been doing more recipe posts. But my sister hates recipe posts prefers other material (and isn’t afraid to let me know it), so here’s a recap of my weekend. Starting with Friday… I made peanut butter. I made a spinach and pumpkin seed pate. I made bread. I made pancakes. I ate pancakes. I made seitan. I made tofu. And after spending most of the day in the kitchen, Kyle and I opted for a dinner out. We walked to… Read more >

Last weekend, I woke up in the middle of the night salivating. Why? Because of the delicious aroma of this loaf of bread. Blame it on the carbs, yo! Note to self: never again start a loaf of bread in the breadmaker as you are going to bed. If you’ve ever made bread, you probably know where I’m coming from because you know how fantastic it smells. Well apparently my dreaming self got a whiff of the fresh warm dough and wanted in on the action. I incorporated the smell into a dream and… Read more >

It’s true that I eat oatmeal almost every day. I don’t think it’s boring, but that’s me. I get questions rather frequently about how I make them…and while I never measure things as I go, I figured I should respond to the inquiries. So last night, as I prepped for the work day, I got out the measuring cups and noted each and every step for you guys. Ready? This is the basic framework. 3/4 cup dry whole rolled oats 2 tbsp chia seeds 1/4 cup raisins (no more or I risk overloading… Read more >

I had to divide this into eight (8!!) portions to grind. 16 ounces of Starbucks Christmas blend later I had grounds from wall to wall in the kitchen and my hands were permeated with the delicious aroma of java. Good thing you can’t absorb caffeine intradermally. Or can you? I just found out our apartment in Buenos Aires has a coffee maker. I’m SO looking forward to Argentinean roasts. Can you tell my one-track-mind is completely vacation focused? I still have a couple more work shifts, so I’m doing everything I can to keep my… Read more >
