My parents were in town this weekend! :D They arrived Saturday in the wee early hours and left yesterday (Tuesday afternoon)…and although they were only here for four days (two of which I had to work 12 hour shifts) we still had so much fun. I was definitely sad to see them go, but I feel pretty lucky that I was able to see them at all. As I’m sure you’ve heard/read by now, the East Coast weather wasn’t so kind this weekend. Saturday and Sunday were quite the snow-filled days, which were BEYOND brrrrr… Read more >

Doing three (12 hour) shifts in a row is my least fave thing to do. I avoid it like the plague swine flu. However, my parents are coming into town today (yipeeeeee!!!), so I had to get all my work out of the way so I could have the weekend off :) It was an especially rough stretch because I only had one day off between my last weekend of chaos and this 72 hour stint. No matter. Ready for all my work lunches: Tuesday Salad, bars, Whole Foods’ spelt pretz, carrots, apples, and tea… Read more >

Thursday was muy bueno and here’s why: 1. I got to sleep in. Hooray! 2. Coffeeeeeee 3. I totally had nothing but fruit all morning (fruit, fruit, and more fruit). 4. I got to use my brand new Polar F6 HRM. 5. At long last, some quality cardio time!!! (Yes, this overlaps with #4, but I was so so thrilled, it deserves 2 points). 6. I made a delish sando out of Nature’s Pride bread stuffed to perfection with some slightly rando ingreds. (sweet potato, avocado & smart deli “turkey”) Holy yum, try this now. … Read more >

At some point I guess you just have to accept that you can’t catch up. For me, that day is today. Rather than go back to where I last left off (Friday’s eats), I am skipping ahead to the weekend’s eats. Trust me, you aren’t missing anything too epic…hummus and fruit, no doubt. You know what a packed lunch means… Work weekend 🙁 The snack deets: green monster superfood odwalla bar, peanut toffee buzz clif bar (holy EFFING yum – is this a new flavor, or have i just found the light?), the last of… Read more >

I’m exhausted with a capital “E” after the last 3 days of work I’ve had. I shouldn’t complain since I had 4 days off in a row while my sister was visiting, but man was it difficult to go back to such a chaotic scene. Tuesday’s shift whizzed by so fast I was playing catch up for 12 hours straight (the unit was good busy, not shoot-myself-in-the-head busy), on Wednesday I cried (more on THAT later…), and Thursday I was called to the ICU to cover a patient who had taken a turn for the… Read more >
