Sunshine, don’t go away

As far as weekends go, this was pretty damn near perfect.  It started with a 10 am wake up call (sleep in much?), and then a bit of coffee loading.  Since it was a GORGEOUS 40+ degrees outside, Kyle and I wanted to get our faces in the sun asap.  So, after snacking on one (and a half) of my chia seed oat bars, we set out for a run in the park.  I can’t even tell you how long I have been waiting to feel the road beneath my feet.  The treadmill just hasn’t… Read more >

What the Olympics taught me

1)  Canadians are super nice, welcoming, and very friendly. (Kyle nearly had a heart attack as I took out my camera while we were passing the border patrol…whatever, I live on the edge…) 2)  Canadians are pretty die hard when it comes to ice hockey. Vancouver time

By the time you read this, I am likely in the upper itty-bitty corner of WA chilling at the in-laws casa before heading across the border to Vancouver.  Kyle and I put in a bid for Olympics tix decades ago and, amazingly enough, we got them for a pretty stellar event.  If you keep your eyes peeled to your TV sets during the men’s US v. Canada ice hockey game, I promise I will try my best to do something obnoxious enough to get some air time (think stars & stripes face painting).  I’m currently… Read more >

Monday’s sweet tooth

Thanks to my whole foods gift card, I was able to replenish my NuNaturals stevia… This frothy treat is coffee with coconut milk, cinnamon, and NuNaturals.  Luff. Brunch was a bit unconventional…I felt like grilled cheese, so I got crafty and mashed together extra firm Nasoya tofu and nutritional yeast. It looks kinda bizarre, but tasted yum-may. Currently there is a pretty bomb deal going on at Whole Foods with Steaz (when you buy a 4-pack you get another for free), so obviously I went for it.  My sweet tooth took over for the rest… Read more >

Confession

Ok, I’m about to get personal…if you don’t wanna hear it, skip ahead. Today, for the second time in 3 days (aka since I’ve been back in NYC), I’ve broken down and cried my eyes out.  I’ve tried to ignore it – tried to pretend it’s just homesickness, or the weather, or hormones, or some combination of all these things…whatever.  The fact is: I’m sick of being miserable and pretending I’m not.  Unfortunately, I don’t know what’s wrong with me.  I am usually pretty good at identifying the issue and working past it, but I… Read more >
