And no play makes Elise a repetitive eater. Rather than subject you all to the same exact meal (times twenty), I’ll show my hippie bowl once and move on to my work food. Quinoa, carrots, spinach, seitan, avocado, nutritional yeast, Bragg’s aminos. After a few bad days, where I was carelessly eating wheat and agave (FODMAPs no-no) like it was going out of style, I knew I needed to get my GI tract back on track. Feeling bloated (and a bunch of other less-internet friendly terms) is the worst. So! I did what I know… Read more >

It’s been a long time since I did a “what I ate in a day” style post, but I feel like returning to my OG format for the a moment. Here goes. Breakfast: Vegan & GF pancakes (made with Bob’s Red Mill mix and almond milk). I didn’t use any kind of vegan egg substitute, I just left it out. I also used only almond milk (rather than the water/oil combo they recommended). I topped it with warm peanut butter and banana slices. Half the banana went into my mouth before it made it onto… Read more >

I survived! This past weekend was my first string of shifts back at the hospital after two weeks on my death bed. I’m still on antibiotics and my ear and head are still congested (and requiring their own med cocktail), but my cough is loose and minimal and I can breath, stand upright and walk. I’m like a human again! Hooray. Still no exercise though. Which meant Kyle ran the Hollywood Half by himself. Since I was at work, Ethel and her sister took over official cheerleading duties. How cute is their poster?!? So… Read more >

Last week I teased you all with a post showing off my newest obsession, Gluten-Free Vegan Comfort Food by Susan O’Brien. My comfort cravings have only intensified in the last week… Case in point: lasagna, mac ‘n cheese, pizza. Yeah, I like this cookbook. Some other recipes I have highlighted for April include: home-made cashew milk, amaranth breakfast bowl, cheesy spoonbread, marinated tempeh, raw cinnamon rolls, and green curry peanut sauce with spinach and red rice. I’ve already read the entire book from cover to cover (like most people read literature). And I… Read more >

Ready for an entire day of food? It’s rare that I do these kinds of posts anymore and after yesterday I realized why. It’s hard to get everything! For example, I had a bagel set out for breakfast, but when I got up I didn’t feel like it. Correction, I felt like something else. A cookie to be specific. That’s because this tupperware was sitting on the counter mocking me as I made my coffee. I knew if I didn’t have one, I’d be thinking about them all day and would likely have a… Read more >
