I labored all day

Cha-ching!!  Hear that?  That’s the sound of the $$ being deposited in my bank account after working a holiday.  Time and a half, yes please! (Sadly, I have a feeling the influx of cash flow on my end is probably barely enough to cover the amount oozing out of my better half while he is living it up in Vegas…) I gave the tropical fruit Larabar another shot (but ONLY for you Julie!) and I’m sorry to say, I still wasn’t a fan.  Want the proof?  I actually threw out the uneaten half.  Now, I’m… Read more >

All aboard the magic bullet train

Remember all of the errands I briefly mentioned yesterday? FINALLY!  I know it’s no food processor, but I wanted something on the less $$ side to tide me over until next year when I hit the kitchen appliance jackpot we register for our wedding. I can’t even TELL you how excited I was to use this baby. Unfortunately, I worked all day (on a Saturday – boo!), so my mind was preoccupied by more pressing matters, but as soon as I was out of the hospital, my mind began racing with all the possibilities.  I… Read more >

Oot and aboot

No need to send out the search dogs, I’m alive and well.  In the last few days I’ve been hanging out with with my sis and working.  I worked the past two days, and Laura left to return to CA today (tear).  In the interest of just getting up to date, I’ll limit Tues through Thurs to the very upmost blog-worthy parts.  Not that everything I write isn’t thrilling… Me + Laura + WF lunch + central park = happy day The sun was BLAZING, so the photos were all soopah bright.  In case your… Read more >

1 shift, 2 shift, 3 shift, floor!

I’m exhausted with a capital “E” after the last 3 days of work I’ve had.  I shouldn’t complain since I had 4 days off in a row while my sister was visiting, but man was it difficult to go back to such a chaotic scene.  Tuesday’s shift whizzed by so fast I was playing catch up for 12 hours straight (the unit was good busy, not shoot-myself-in-the-head busy), on Wednesday I cried (more on THAT later…), and Thursday I was called to the ICU to cover a patient who had taken a turn for the… Read more >

Drench our hair, but don’t dampen our spirits

You know how visitors make you a tourist in your own city?  Well, I had an absolute ball of a time in NYC while my baby sis, Marie, was in town. The weather wasn’t too cooperative, but we made do.  After our late Thursday night out on the town, we slept in a bit (well, it was sleeping in for me…Marie, not so much).  While Kyle was at work, Marie and I shopped it up in SoHo, then stopped for a mid-day snack at Dean & Deluca.    All the fresh, colorful produce just makes… Read more >
