Synch the schedule

Sunday’s commute back down the I-5 was, well, whatever.  It’s done, so there’s not much to say about it.  I had packed many food options for the road since I was convinced it was going to take us 8 hours.  In the end, we arrived by 2 pm. I’m pretty sure I was meant to be a Brit because in my book, 2 pm is – without fail – afternoon tea time (not to be confused with high tea, which in fact is dinner-time tea).  In any event, I had an almond milky Tazo chai tea… Read more >

Nursing 101

Take care of yourself.  You can’t take care of patients if you’re sick, so neglecting your own health is as good as bailing on your patients.  You know…that whole apply your own oxygen mask first analogy… That’s what we learned in nursing school.  But I have to be honest; I don’t know many nurses who follow that advice.  And today, I fell victim as a result.  Nursing fail. It all started with a crappy night’s sleep.  I woke up 4 times drenched in sweat.  Those were the first red flags.  Ignored.  I still got up… Read more >

Something looks familiar

New scheduling

Yup, it’s back to le grind.  12 hour shifts require lots of tupperwared options…and as you all know by now, I’m quite the preppy prep-ster over the weekends.  Glad my type-A ways inspired some of you to do the damn thang, too.  Left: spinach salad with roasted veg (brussels, carrots, broccoli, delicata squash) Right: quinoa with chopped pear, raisins, cinnamon & PB dressing (PB flour and almond milk) It’s a fairly simple dish, but dang am I obsessed. OBSESSED! Oh hey, look at that.  Never seen this guy before. Oh wait, that’s right, I’ve had it… Read more >

Worker bee

I’ve been busy busy busy working this week…and even though I haven’t exercised for even half a second (blah), it’s all worth it because I get to spend the weekend with some fantastic friends. My packed lunches have been incredible if I do say so myself.  Satisfying my every want and need – sweet, savory, crunchy, creamy – you name it, I packed it.  It’s all about options people.  The main ingredients in these Heart Thrive cookies were oats, brown rice syrup, brown rice flour, rice bran, natural fruit juices, and lots of dried fruit… Read more >
