Why oh why couldn’t I just sleep in? Sadly, I woke up before 8 am…making my total shut-eye time less than 7 hours. Far more than I used to get (back in my days of employment), but far fewer than I’ve been getting lately. My body was ready to go though, so whatever. After my first cup of coffee my mom had to go to the hospital. It was kinda last minute and she wasn’t able to drive herself, so I made another cup of java to-go and we were off. She’s ok, don’t worry,… Read more >

As promised, here is a more thorough recap of the first dinner with my parents. I like taking non-vegans to Blossom because the menu is impressive for vegans and non-vegans alike. They have interesting dishes that showcase a variety of non-meat “proteins” including seitan, tempeh, and tofu, as well as a few raw options and yet they aren’t presented in an ostentatious way. I love when restaurants have diversity in their menus without an air of arrogance about them. Unassuming and delicious. It took no time for us all to find something on the menu… Read more >

It’s no wonder people are scared of their significant other’s parents; with movies like Meet the Parents, in-laws get a pretty bad rap. Fortunately for me, this stereotype couldn’t be further from the truth. I just got back from a weekend+ getaway with Kyle’s family and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be joining his family than if they were the sole heirs to the Whole Foods chain. Not only are they amazingly accepting of my vegan lifestyle, but they go above and beyond to accommodate it, to the point of straight up spoiling me!… Read more >

Sunday offered nicer weather than Saturday, but I still wanted warmth in my belly for breakfast. What to make, what to make…french vanilla SO Delicious coconut milk coffee, followed by the world’s thickest bowl of pumpkin oat bran. You would think this would fill me right up, but I was hungry again just a few hours later. I slept in, though, so it was well past noon, and I set to work on lunch. Cubed ‘fu rubbed in cornmeal and paprika, tossed in a skillet, and sizzled to death. Pretty snazzy for a recipe on… Read more >

Lately I’ve been having such rando cravings, I feel like a preggo! (Don’t worry Mom…) I had frozen pizza just the other day, and yet, the following TWO days I had pizza as well. Seriously. Who am I? This is pretty odd considering pizza is not exactly a food I would typically associate with strong feelings of lust. Growing up, it was never a food I especially craved. As fun as pizza parties were, discovering I was lactose intolerant at such a young age severed any chance of forming the quintessential bond that most kids… Read more >
