An anti-atrophy agenda (part 1)

After I started writing, I realized I had more to say than I thought, so it’s gonna be a three part plan (stay tuned).  For now, let’s talk about my tapeworm insatiable appetite.  For the life of me, I couldn’t get my hunger in check the other morning. “Nature is a giver, a true friend and a sustainer.”  The same can be said about Justin’s nutbutter.  On the english muffin was the “classic” almond butter, and DANG, was it tasty.  This is by far my favorite kind of nut butter.  I never thought the day… Read more >

Atrophy

My goodness!  I feel like I’m losing muscle and my body is turning into blah by the day…I don’t know what happened to my motivation, but somehow I have managed to avoid physical activity for nearly two weeks.  Unfortunately, I can feel it in my tone and general fitness.  Even MORE unfortunate is how little I seem to care.  Ok, that’s inaccurate, I definitely care.  I just am too tired and unmotivated on my days off to take action.  No worries, I have a plan.  But first, my past few days of work eats. On my laurels

This weekend I relaxed more than I have in a loooooong time.  I didn’t exercise.  I hardly cooked.  To be honest, I pretty much spent the weekend watching the Australian Open, football, and hanging out with Kyle (I did a fair amount of eating as well).  If that’s not the picturesque weekend, well, shoot me.  I have a TON of photos, but they aren’t very glamorous and don’t require much in the way of explanations…so…without further ado… JAVA the hut Bluffin’ with my muffin   How to make quinoa ghetto Afternoon delight(s) YouShake customized “Blended… Read more >

Back in action

It takes just one full day of my regular hippie eating to get me back in the swing of things.  Today was perfect.  I started the day with foamy coffee and a massive bowl tupperware of oats.  Explanation behind the use of tupperware?  Well, I had planned on making overnight oats for work the previous day, but I completely forgot about it in the morning.  (It’s already a challenge for me to transport my regular pre-packed lunches, so adding another tupperware was the straw that broke the camel’s back my backpack) Forgetting the oats worked… Read more >

Would Miss Manners serve house guests nooch?

Are you getting tired of me working so much?  I hope the packed lunches aren’t too boring, but whatcha gonna do, right?  Today’s lunch eats included tupperwared kale chips and a salad, DOS manzanas, a buncha bars (Clif’s Z bars and Odwalla repeats from yesterday), and dried papaya spears/pears. As I headed out on my lunch break today, I saw a pretty fantastic sight (these things tend to occur outside the Emergency Dept).   Picture a homeless Caucasian man (60-ish years old) in a wheelchair rocking a black baby back and forth, and bouncing it up… Read more >
