Still out of whack

Right after I posted the other night I realized my optimism about returning to a 100% healthy state was premature.  Details aren’t necessary, but I was up til 3 am – in and out of the bathroom (pretty sure you can fill in the blanks). Fortunately, a big shipment of Vita Coco arrived earlier that day… 100% pure coconut water.  Hydrate naturally.  Exactly what I needed to do. I am not in love with them…and I think Kailey described the flavor best when she said it’s like the leftover juice from those snack-pack fruit cups,… Read more >

Nursing back to health

I feel like I need to play catch up.  As I mentioned in my eco hippie post, I was a bit ill the other day, so my pics were pretty boring.  Here’s a queasy stomach tutorial: First, drown yourself in tea… Then, slowly make your way through as many different carbs as you can get your hands on… Natural antioxidants don’t hurt either… (Thanks to the POM fairy, Ryan, I am stocked for a while, too – score) Mid-day napping is practically a given…on top of several hours in front of the t.v. (i.e. Top… Read more >

My Salsa

To the few people who understand my weird (read: abnormal) humor, this title is for you.  For the rest of you, I’m sorry.  Hopefully this isn’t your first red flag that I’m not exactly “normal,” but if it is…well, there you have it.  Be afraid.  Be very afraid.  I had a weird dinner tonight.  “My salsa makes all the pretty girls dance…” Yeah, Eminem knows ‘wassup. So before you close this page in disgust, allow me to explain.  ‘Cado + salsa + large-and-in-charge amounts of roasted red pepper hummus = Spreadable brilliance.  So why limit… Read more >

Sunshine, don’t go away

As far as weekends go, this was pretty damn near perfect.  It started with a 10 am wake up call (sleep in much?), and then a bit of coffee loading.  Since it was a GORGEOUS 40+ degrees outside, Kyle and I wanted to get our faces in the sun asap.  So, after snacking on one (and a half) of my chia seed oat bars, we set out for a run in the park.  I can’t even tell you how long I have been waiting to feel the road beneath my feet.  The treadmill just hasn’t… Read more >

Mother Nature must be mad

Can you believe this weather?  Haiti, Chile, Hawaii…makes the East Coast snow seem insignificant.  There’s a car under there somewhere… So I stomped my way through a good foot of snow to get to the hospital today.  Brrr.  I toted my usual eats with me too, including a big salad, a squash side dish, and apples and bars aplenty. The big boy on the left contained spinach, steamed zucchini, carrots, brocc, chopped celery, chickpeas, and dried cranz.  Holy ingredients.  The smaller side tupperware had delicata squash (I finally found it again! yes!!) with raisins. Do… Read more >
