If there are typos in this post it’s because I’m running on 1/8th a tank. I just worked three night shifts in a row (not pretty) and now I’m attempting to write and bake a new gluten free bread following no recipe. We will see how this post turns out soon enough, but I’ll have to wait ‘til tomorrow to see how the bread tastes. In the meantime, I’m going to attempt to make a savory oat believer out of the 50% of you who still refuse to give it a shot. C’mon, doesn’t… Read more >

How about one photo for each meal? Crock-pot spiced brown rice with almond butter. In an effort to bring some variety to my oat routine (the horror!!) I made brown rice this week. The crock-pot is just as easy because I leave it to cook on low overnight and wake up to warm whole grain perfection. Kale salad with seitan. No explanation necessary. These two foods will never cease to amaze me. The Cookie Department Great Full (vegan) cookie. You would never ever know this cookie has sweet potatoes in it. It was soooo good. … Read more >

Is there anything better than a warm mug of chai tea with almond milk? If so, I’d love to try it. Chai infused breakfasts oats are a start. And Chai cookies are in my future. But for now, I’m going to delight in the simplicity of this tea. Work food. Oatmeal with ground flax seeds, blueberries and vanilla almond milk. Fried millet with veggie and hard boiled egg. This week’s grain was millet. It’s small, gluten free, and has a cornbread like taste. I make it in the rice cooker, like I do with everything else, using the same water to grain ratio as rice, quinoa, and couscous. Honestly, it’s impossible to mess things up in a rice cooker. This one just so happened to be especially on the money…because when I went to scoop it into a tupperware it came out as easy as could be, no spoon required. Literally. This is from flipping the bowl upside down. I actually attempted to… Read more >

Kyle and I are really bad when it comes to seeing movies. We mean to see things and then we just never end up following through. Last month we finally got our act together and went to see My Week with Marilyn. Well, the theatre randomly had a power outage, so after walking all the way down to the Promenade, we just turned back around and walked back home. I’m very embarrassed to reveal what we ended up watching instead. [source] Ummm yeah. We watched a documentary about Justin Bieber. It gets worse. I had… Read more >
