After 8 months and 30 (ish?) countries, my sister is officially back in The States. Her luggage isn’t, but that’s a different issue. I hadn’t actually touched base with her over the phone since mid-October, so it was nice to finally hear her voice again. Of course within 10 minutes of catching up, she told me some things she thought I needed to work on blog-wise. Ummm…thanks for the input Laura. ;) So this post is for her. There will be no recipes. Instead, I’ll share some of the other more random things that I’m… Read more >

Let’s start with dessert(s). I had three times the bowl you see below. Heavy on the candied ginger. In case you were wondering, the Whole Foods on the westside have finally restocked their candied ginger supply, so this is their brand (as opposed to the Trader Joe’s kind that I’ve been hoarding for the past few months). Whole Foods’ ginger is crystallized, so there is more sugar, but it’s also spicier. I prefer the spicy kind. Check it. A mitten shaped piece! It took me 3 hours to decide on what to order from Real Food Daily. It’s hard! There are raw dishes that bring me to an infant-like drool state, as well as comfort meals that make me feel all warm and cozy inside. Gah! What to choose?? I worked this weekend which was whatever. I don’t feel like talking about it. I do feel like sharing my packed up eats though. I made a pumpkin raisin chia pudding the day before, so I added some of it to my overnight oats, along with a banana. Here’s the mix all stirred up together… Soaking raisins plumps them up to such a delightful state! Here’s the rest of the goodies…carrots, corn nuts, granola bar, banana bread, candied ginger, salty dark chocolate. I have been storing these dried fruit and nut granola bars… Read more >

My next birthday blog post is from my best friend Lauren. We were so close growing up that our teachers literally wondered what was going to happen once we graduated and went off to separate colleges. Our high school band teacher was especially concerned. And yes, I just revealed the fact that we both were in band all the way through high school. Photo evidence? Me & Lauren & our French Horns. Yeahhhh… Well, now that I’ve given away my deepest darkest nerdiest secret, I will turn the blog over to Lauren… Elise and… Read more >
