Happy Hanukkah peeps! I’m actually a gentile myself, but the hospital I used to work at in NYC was a Jewish hospital, so I’m totally down with Judaism. Lightlife’s Smart Bacon is both vegan and kosher, FYI. Just sayin’ It’s also salty as all hell, which is not great for blood pressure, but makes for one tasty a$$ dish. Bad cardiac nurse. Shhh…don’t tell on me. The idea for this dish came while I was home last weekend browsing through my mom’s Bon Appétit mag. There was a bacon and brussel sprouts dish that caught… Read more >

Sunday’s commute back down the I-5 was, well, whatever. It’s done, so there’s not much to say about it. I had packed many food options for the road since I was convinced it was going to take us 8 hours. In the end, we arrived by 2 pm. I’m pretty sure I was meant to be a Brit because in my book, 2 pm is – without fail – afternoon tea time (not to be confused with high tea, which in fact is dinner-time tea). In any event, I had an almond milky Tazo chai tea… Read more >

I’m definitely in a big, huge, massive, obscene rut. There, I said it. Almost every single meal this week has involved nutbutter in some form. It all stemmed from this purchase. And the delivery of this package. Both have become absolutely essential parts of my diet, so much so that I’ve ended up creating the oddest food combinations, all in an effort to incorporate some form of nutbutter. For instance this sweet potato & apple dish dressed with peanut sauce. Peanut sauce you say? Yes, peanut sauce. All it is is peanut flour, almond milk… Read more >

Now this is a beautiful sight. This is what dreams are made of…for a hummus lover at least. 🙂 On Monday night I had about half of the tub for dinner (with every dippable I could get my hands on), and the rest I packed up for Tuesday’s lunch. You know how I do it… Just throw it in the bag The same thing that the bankrobber told the teller Just throw it in the bag That’s the way it suppose to be A real [bleep] ‘posed to help you out with the groceries Just… Read more >
