Soooo, I’m on a roll with the creamy vitamix recipes. Cashews > Dairy Guess who’s not a big a fan of the vitamix? Poor little guy gets freaked when the motor starts going. 🙁 He’s fine when I hold him next to the blender, but unless he’s in his mommy’s protective hold, he cries at the scary noise. Anyway, let’s get to the recipe because it was rich and thick and made Kyle do his omg-I-love-this-so-much-I’m-going-to-do-dirty-things-to-my-spoon face. I definitely licked the pot before cleaning it (after licking both my bowl and the ladle). The recipe… Read more >

I’m officially a foodie now. I own a vitamix. Birthday present from Kyle. He knows me so well. So this may sound weird but I was kinda scared to use it. And for a solid week it sat untouched because I was too intimidated. I didn’t want to initiate it into my kitchen arsenal with a lame recipe or anything so-so. It had to be epic. Why? Who knows. It’s all in my head. In the end, I chose a cheesy pumpkin sauce. Because blending nuts to creamy dreamy bliss (in seconds!!) was too fun… Read more >

This weekend was full of relaxing at home. Thank goodness! Last weekend I came down with mastitis and was way too ambitious for my own good. We went to a football game with a couple and their 6 month old on Saturday. And then traveled to the East Bay for a baby shower on Sunday. It was really fun, but I my suffer-in-silence-and-just-push-through-it approach completely backfired. Come Monday I felt like crap and it was just me and pacman left to our own devices. Raise your hand if you’re surprised by my stubbornness…nobody? Yeah that’s… Read more >

Soooo, we never got around to carving our pumpkin. But it didn’t go to waste… Friday afternoon we were housebound while waiting for our wine delivery to come (I had to be home to sign for it since we’d missed the first two attempts). So what did we do? Played with pumpkin guts. P watched on as I hacked our little sugar pumpkin from Impossible Acres open and scooped out the seeds. I roasted them – making half savory (salt & pepper) and half sweet (cinnamon & stevia). [BTW, I did not boil them… Read more >

Kinda unintentionally took a little break from the blog. I wasn’t overly busy, still doing the same work/parent thing, but I just didn’t feel like writing an (uninspired) post about nothingness so I left the computer off. And that’s that. Nothing exciting happened while I was away though. For dinners: I made this creamy dijon tempeh casserole dish again. This time with 3 blocks of tempeh (I 1 1/2-ed the whole recipe) in an 8×8 casserole dish. Boom. Party in my mouth. That’s taken care of a few dinners/lunches. Even… Read more >
