Yesterday morning I woke up, caffeinated myself, ate my butternut coconut oats, went for quick expensive shopping trip on the Promenade, then came home for a nice wheatberry lunch. What you DIDN’T see was what prompted this… Yucky weather. WSJ’s Style & Fashion section. Dangerous duo. I ended up spending $218 at Forever21 in under 2 hours – yikes! Good thing I’m starting my job soon… After lunch I went grocery shopping. I’ve found that I spend way less on groceries when I shop in a semi-full state (sadly, this is rather necessary since I’m… Read more >

These past few days have been a bit busy for me…among other things, I’ve been prepping for my follow-up job interview (which is tomorrow – eek!). Coffee for four. All for me 🙂 I have been cooking, too, but as you can see, blogging has taken the back burner. Also, I’ve been having a string of bottomless pit days. I’m sure you’re familiar. You know the days when you’re stomach just won’t quit. Which is all well and good, except that it leaves me with 482 photos to post. Ugh. I may as well dive… Read more >

My sister came to visit this weekend so Kyle and I did our best to show off Santa Monica in all it’s glory. The weather wasn’t cooperating, but despite the misty cloud cover, it was a weekend packed with fun. Friday morning we hiked to Inspiration Point in Will Roger’s State Park. By the time we got back it was lunch time and Huckleberry was calling our names. Laura has heard me rave about Huckleberry so many times, it was an obvious choice for lunch. First we split the white bean dip with a slice… Read more >

I wasn’t too concerned because, hey, it’s not like I have a job or anything. But instead of sleeping in and regaining those lost hours, I was up and at ‘em at 7:30. 😡 6 hours of sleep? Meh. Not bad, but not a routine I want to roll with all the time. The early rise and shine did give me… Read more >

Cheater cheater pumpkin potato eater. Last week my cousin posted a recipe that looked both tasty and vegan-izable, so I starred it and saved it for a rainy day. Ok, a cloudy day…this is LA after all, not New York. Yesterday was that day…only I had very few of the ingredients on hand. No matter, I subbed like a pro and wound up with a totally different (but still very tasty) dish. It took very little time since I cheated every step of the way, but trust me, cutting corners never tasted so good. I… Read more >
