Highlights only. I could never recap an entire week! Footed PJs are the cutest thing ever. Saturday morning we had an open house. Rather than subject P to a million people germing up the joint, I took him for a walk. We went to the Farmer’s Market to re-stock on spinach (this habit requires a constant influx of greens). After everyone left I came home and got ready for a BBQ with friends. We picked up some apps on the walk over (oh how I will miss these easy walks to friends houses in Santa… Read more >

Just a [link filled] reminder… Certain recipes are so good they are worth repeating. Often. Like quinoa granola. And egg & kale breakfast strata (in muffin form). And mushroom miso & squash stew. And daiya pizza. And vegetarian chorizo & kale rice casserole. By the way, I totally figured out what this meal reminds me of. I am reluctant to share though, since it’s (cringe) Hamburger Helper. Don’t judge, just make it. And baked potatoes with the works. [There’s more of that vegan chorizo] And mushroom stroganoff. [I added TVP this time to increase the… Read more >

I’ll admit, I was the first one to raise an eyebrow during the whole 2 ingredient banana pancake phase a few months ago. But as it turns out, they were kinda good. These are better in my opinion. Sweet potatoes > Bananas At least in terms of making pancakes. All you need to do is cook a sweet potato to the point of it being way done. So the flesh can be separated from the skin and scooped out easily. You can do this in the microwave or the oven or using a combo of… Read more >

For the past 6 days Kyle and I have been in the East Bay. It’s incredible having P in my hometown – and very cool/weird/surreal taking him to all the places I grew up around. He’s also gotten to meet some of my bestest friends. But I’ll back up to the trip to get here…because we were slightly apprehensive knowing we had a 6+ hour drive with a baby. We’ve conquered hour long walks no problem. Short outings are a breeze. But the I-5 is a whole other ball game – there are 35… Read more >

Sometimes I get bummed out when I realize over the course of the day I’ve basically eaten nothing but toast with Earth Balance, bananas with nut butter, and crackers with hummus. In large quantities. These foods are delicious and healthy, yes. But inspired? Not so much. Which is why this simple but different lunch made me so very happy. I got rainbow chard at the farmer’s market and decided I had to use it in more ways than just a salad (or sandwich ingredient). I’ve done both of those things with it already, but… Read more >
