Gleeful day off

Reminder: BYOM (bring your own mug, that is) to Starbucks on April 15th for a free java I love that Starbucks is doing their part to make a difference…I mean, I already adore the ‘bucks for their delicious liquid crack, but The Green Project has put them on a whole other level in my book.  Hippie approved 🙂 But back to Tuesday… Weather-wise, it was only moderately spring-y, but I’ll take overcast and warmish over 40 degrees any day. Brunch was colorful perfection.  Fruity much? Today’s smoothie was loaded with POM, frozen mixed berries, frozen… Read more >

Like a carry-out

*Post’s title courtesy of my lover, JT (and due to the fact that I ate several meals out this weekend). Apparently I just can’t get my blogging self together on the weekends (or when the weather is nice).  Sooo, Happy (belated) Easter!  And now for a quickie recap of the last couple of days… Saturday The AM can be summarized pretty briefly:  Starbucks, shopping, more shopping, and (finally) lunch at home. A productive trip home

It’s no secret, I love trips home.  West Coast sunshine, family and friends…can’t get enough!  This trip was jam packed, due to Kyle’s birthday celebration and an insane amount of wedding planning.  Since I have photos up the hoo-ha, I’ll try to avoid the mundane (read: heaps of Stacy’s pita chips and hummus), such as this: And show you only the highlights, like this: Brewskies and cake.  Now that’s a trip home! As I mentioned before, Friday was Kyle’s birthday, so we celebrated all day long.  The key to having a fabulous birthday is having… Read more >

Baby steps

My appetite was a monster the other day.  Not a little monster either, a BIG a$$ monster.  I didn’t have work, so I let myself sleep in a bit, but once my alarm went off at 8, my stomach was growling like an overly-protective Rottweiler.  That’s not typical for me.  My stomach usually needs a few minutes (or an hour) to warm up to the idea of calories.  If you know me, you know I’m not a morning person, but my stomach is even less so.  Ordinarily I ease it in with coffee…today, though, I… Read more >

‘Fu master

This is how my food prepping has been going… TOFU you are my b!tch Clearly I have been a busy little bee on my days off.  Busy with LA SOYA that is!  To provide myself with several meal options, I mixed things up in the seasoning department.  From L to R: plain cubed, plain slabs, Whole Foods’ asian seasonings, and chili powder/paprika). After some bonding time in the oven, they came out looking like this: Shrinkage. Spice-ayyy. And here’s how I’ve been gittin’ my soy on. Meal numero uno: Big salad with mayj crunch, including… Read more >
