Short and sweet

In the interest of…well…interest, this post is going to be super short.  Nothing remotely exciting happened today. 5 AM – I woke up to the annoying buzz, buzz, buzzzzzz of my alarm 7AM to 7 PM – Workface Please direct all questions about my lunch to your mom the comments section.  I doubt you’ll have any, it’s not like this was anything new… Oh wait, there was this: How’d that fatty sneak it’s way into my chickpeas????  The main thrill of the day was the medical staff appreciation mini-shindig thingy that the hospital hosted at… Read more >

All I want is peace(food)

I worked both days this weekend.  So on Saturday, while everyone else was frolicking in the sun, I was dealing with my patient who decided she was through with the hospital, and removed her own chest tube.  Don’t worry, she’s fine (physically at least…psych-wise I’m still on the fence). Anyways.  Yummy pre-packed food includes: raisin/almond/cashew/carob chip mix, dried mango/papaya, Tribe hummus mini-tub, apple, raw salad, and some bars. Odwalla Superfood (I heart every green millimeter of this flavor) and a Cashew Cookie Larabar (also a favorite). The rest of the day flew by uneventfully (just… Read more >

Lettuce cups

I feel like this post should come with a warning. If you’re the jealous type…then look away, because this post may just make you wish you were engaged to my fiancé 🙂 I’ll post more on the rest of my weekend meals later, but Sunday night deserves it’s own (detailed) explanation.  Kyle told me that he’d have a surprise waiting for me when I got home, and sure enough, I was totally blown away! He used the recipe for PF Chang’s lettuce wraps to replicate their famous dish – with a vegan (and HHH) twist. … Read more >

The Laws of Thermodynamics

The first law of thermodynamics states that heat is a form of energy, which can be transferred, but never created nor destroyed. The second law of thermodynamics states that the entropy of the universe always increases. The third law of thermodynamics implies that it is impossible to cool a system all the way to exactly absolute zero. Sure, it may seem weird to start a post with a science lesson, but like most other things in life, it can also be applied to food… 1.  Heat is a form of energy?!  Hell yeah it is!… Read more >

Too busy to break the fast

As promised, I had a chocolate-y delicious Amazing Green concoction for dessert Wednesday night. Notice the blender top?  Yes, I went for a more ambitious drink, and blended in ice and half a frozen banana to achieve the perfect chocolate banana dessert.  And I thought my high school weekend job would never come in handy!  Look at me now Jamba! Anyways, as always, I packed my lunch for work, which included the same cast of characters… Dried apples, dried mango, english muffin with it’s other half (hummus), choc/chip/peanut odwalla bar (see nutritionals above), apple, salad.  I… Read more >
