peanut butter

An attempt at entirety

Ready for an entire day of food?  It’s rare that I do these kinds of posts anymore and after yesterday I realized why.  It’s hard to get everything! For example, I had a bagel set out for breakfast, but when I got up I didn’t feel like it.  Correction, I felt like something else.  A cookie to be specific.   That’s because this tupperware was sitting on the counter mocking me as I made my coffee.  I knew if I didn’t have one, I’d be thinking about them all day and would likely have a… Read more >

Eating in & out

This past week has been work heavy, which is why I’ve been doing more recipe posts.  But my sister hates recipe posts prefers other material (and isn’t afraid to let me know it), so here’s a recap of my weekend. Starting with Friday…    I made peanut butter. I made a spinach and pumpkin seed pate. I made bread.   I made pancakes.   I ate pancakes. I made seitan. I made tofu.   And after spending most of the day in the kitchen, Kyle and I opted for a dinner out.  We walked to… Read more >

Dreaming of bread

Last weekend, I woke up in the middle of the night salivating.  Why?    Because of the delicious aroma of this loaf of bread.  Blame it on the carbs, yo! Note to self: never again start a loaf of bread in the breadmaker as you are going to bed.  If you’ve ever made bread, you probably know where I’m coming from because you know how fantastic it smells.  Well apparently my dreaming self got a whiff of the fresh warm dough and wanted in on the action.  I incorporated the smell into a dream and… Read more >

Butter me up

I’m sorry for leaving you all in suspense after the nutty teaser. I made this trio of nut butter spreads for Kyle’s dad… Holiday Spiced Peanut butter Chocolate Cake Almond Butter Coconut Peanut Butter There weren’t really leftovers…mostly because Kyle kept poking his head in the kitchen when he heard the food processor stop…smart boy.  But I did make an extra batch of the chocolate one.  Because you can never have too much cocoa almond butter. Since we’re on the subject of chocolate, I may as well start with that recipe. Chocolate Cake Almond Butter… Read more >

Who was Betsy?

There are certain phrases I find myself saying lately that make me sound like I’m 100 years old.  Or living on a farm in the 1940’s.  I don’t know how I suddenly aged 70 years but it’s kinda odd.  They aren’t even phrases that my parents said, so I have no excuse. Anyone know where the phrase “Heavens to Betsy!” comes from?  It’s pretty random when you think about it. I digress… The oats-in-a-jar trend never really caught on in the HHH household.  But I’m frugal by nature and would never dream of letting these… Read more >
