Time and a half

Knowing my friends are frolicking in the sun while I’m begging patients to go on walks and administering suppositories…it’s tough.  It doesn’t matter HOW much you love your job, when the weekend arrives and others are not working and you are, it’s just a bummer.  Holiday weekends are especially difficult.  My three day weekend was spent in the hospital.  Wah wah.  Ordinarily, I avoid 3-in-a-rows like I avoid C. diff, but knowing I was getting Memorial Day pay (time and a half) and the weekend differential made it sort-of okay.  After all my income has… Read more >

Photos of food

I’ll own it.  Since last weekend, I’ve been phoning it in here on HHH. Just plugging along as per usual – work work work with free time filled with potting plants and cheering on my husband.  And eating.   I’ve been poking my head into the Food Revolution truck every day on my lunch break to see if Jamie Oliver is there…still no sighting though.  I really want to show my lunches off.  Or ask for a job.   This was a salad with spinach, quinoa, & blackened tempeh.  So I think he’d be a fan…. His and hers lunches

I probably make or pack Kyle’s lunches 75% of the time.  He only eats on campus a few days a week and every once in a while it aligns with my work days.  Which means…   I can pack both of our food the night before and kill two birds with one stone. All work

And no play makes Elise a repetitive eater. Rather than subject you all to the same exact meal (times twenty), I’ll show my hippie bowl once and move on to my work food. Quinoa, carrots, spinach, seitan, avocado, nutritional yeast, Bragg’s aminos. After a few bad days, where I was carelessly eating wheat and agave (FODMAPs no-no) like it was going out of style, I knew I needed to get my GI tract back on track. Feeling bloated (and a bunch of other less-internet friendly terms) is the worst. So! I did what I know… Read more >

Philly: Corner Bakery and Markets

I got over 10 hours of sleep but still slept in quite a bit on Saturday.  So did my parents and Kyle.  Eventually we made our way to center city for brunch.   You can’t go wrong with the Corner Bakery Cafe.   We got a bunch of things  – some to share, some to hoard.   Look at the spread.   Kyle and my dad both got the same thing – the Farmer’s Scrambler – with eggs scrambled with red and green bell peppers, red onions, mushrooms, potatoes, and cheddar cheese.  Normally it’s served… Read more >
