nuts

Just a Wednesday

You must be sick of non-food (aka house progress) posts by now, huh? Ok, how about my work food for a change of pace (slash return to the real reason I blog). Breakfast…   Oats, puffed millet, white chia seeds and sunflower seed butter on top. You want me to back up with that?   1 cup whole rolled oats + 1 1/2 cups boiling water + 1/4 cup puffed millet + 1 tbsp chia seeds   Once I let them sit a bit, the water got soaked up and the chia seeds gelled, so… Read more >

Family Oscar Night

A post from Sunday this late in the week?  What the!?   Yes, I know I’m dragging last weekend out.  The truth is, we don’t have internet (or food!!) at our new place yet and I’m leaving this weekend (again) to drive up to Sacramento for a funeral so I have little motivation to share my latest eats.   And last weekend I ate some great stuff, so why not make it last? Breakfast started with coffee and almond milk.  This is worth mentioning because we ran out of almond milk the second day I… Read more >

p.s. chai love you

Is there anything better than a warm mug of chai tea with almond milk? If so, I’d love to try it.  Chai infused breakfasts oats are a start.  And Chai cookies are in my future.  But for now, I’m going to delight in the simplicity of this tea. Work food. Carrots, banana, candied ginger as snacks.  Not my usual haul because this was for an 8 hour day, not the full 12.  Luckily we were done with… Read more >

Hungry Hungry

These past few days my appetite has been ravenous.  [I haven’t done any form of exercise, though, so it’s definitely odd.  But my body is far from normal, so I just went with it.]   Take breakfast for instance, usually a tupperware of oatmeal with the fixins will hold me over pretty well. But I had this before I left for the hospital and was already hungry for my next meal by the time my shift started at 7 am.  WTF? I had a banana and breakfast cookie and praised the Lord when I saw… Read more >

God Bless Psych Nurses

Maybe it’s because I’m a nut job myself.  Or maybe it’s because I prefer things that are based on formulas and bound by rules.  But whatever the reason, I have a very hard time with crazy people.* *I’m using this term in the clinical sense. I truly think psych nurses are 10% human and 90% saints.  I don’t know how they do it.  In case you couldn’t guess, there have been some real characters in the hospital lately. Anyway.  I’m so behind in posting my work meals, I’m just gonna photo bomb you all and… Read more >
