HOW!?! Seriously, how do SAHM / bloggers do it? I’m only 3 days into Kyle’s 10 days out of town and pretty sure I’m going to turn into an almond by day 5 at the rate I’m pounding through this Costco tub of roasted nuts. And I haven’t written a single new post aside from this one I’m working on now. Which may or may not go live before Kyle returns. Suffice it to say, I’m not exactly excelling in either the cooking or the blogging area. Hopefully I’m doing better in the mom department,… Read more >

I don’t want to sound like a whiner, but DAYAM, being a mom is hard work. I always thought I knew this, but when Kyle was out of town I really realized it. For real. Trying to be productive during those 5 days was a joke. I gave up after the first day. So much for finishing moving in (I had wanted to surprise Kyle by having the house all done when he returned from his trip). But how realistic is vacuuming and hammering the art up on the wall during P’s limited napping time? … Read more >

Just a [link filled] reminder… Certain recipes are so good they are worth repeating. Often. Like quinoa granola. And egg & kale breakfast strata (in muffin form). And mushroom miso & squash stew. And daiya pizza. And vegetarian chorizo & kale rice casserole. By the way, I totally figured out what this meal reminds me of. I am reluctant to share though, since it’s (cringe) Hamburger Helper. Don’t judge, just make it. And baked potatoes with the works. [There’s more of that vegan chorizo] And mushroom stroganoff. [I added TVP this time to increase the… Read more >

Kyle’s been taking day trips away for business, which leaves me and P home alone together. I realize this is how most new moms function after their spouse’s paternity leave ends (if they even get any!), but for me it’s a whole new learning curve. Fortunately, my little guy is making leaps and bounds each and every day, so I can utilize the crib in the nursery (and video monitor) and boppy pillow (which neither of us were ready for during his first month of life). His neck is getting really strong and he’s… Read more >

I made a major mistake and didn’t say decaf when I ordered this (venti soy misto) before we hit the road to come home from NorCal. I was very perky! I hope P didn’t get as high as I did off the caffeine! Oops!! The rest of the road trip was similar to the first one – Kyle and I traded off driving duties and our little man slept 99% of the time. I packed up our eats again. Similar as always. Brown rice, half an avocado, & two hard boiled eggs with a nooch… Read more >
