Old post alert! This was written a few weeks ago, but somehow got lost & forgotten in the wordpress queue. Still figured I’d share… Scraps! Red lentils, broccoli stalk, carrots, celery, butternut squash soup (and unpictured TVP). Doesn’t look like much huh. Unless you have a crock pot and a bunch of spices. Oh really swan!?!?? Once again this is proof that crock pots love lentils and everything (even crappy messed up bread) tastes good when you make it in the slow cooker. Too bad crock pots don’t photograph nearly as well. I made this… Read more >

My birthday week started last weekend with apple picking. After that we headed to lunch at Mendocino Farms. As much as I love the place, it’s not conveniently located for me. But since we had already been in the car for well over an hour, we figured what’s an extra few miles out of the way? Kyle got the Modern Tuna Melt which has “all white Albacore tuna with fresh herbs, farm house cheddar, vegenaise, housemade pickles, red onions, tomatoes, Scarborough Farm’s greens on panini grilled buckwheat.” He nixed the pickles, obviously, and deemed it… Read more >

My breakfast was home-made bread (hence the poor slicing) with almond butter. I used up almost the very last bit of it, so I decided to make another batch of nut butter. This time with peanuts. Roasted peanuts to be exact. Deep down I think Kyle prefers peanut butter to almond butter. And we recently bought celery and Ritz crackers, which are two of his favorite things to pile with PB. Honey roasted peanut butter. Kissed with a touch of agave. I had to do some taste testing of the peanut butter,… Read more >

Here’s the line-up (the photo shows the eats in chronological order of consumption). And here’s the hourly breakdown… 7:30 pm – I pack the above eats for work. 8:30 pm – In an attempt to get back on track, I tuck into the covers extra early. 4:14 am – My alarm goes off and Kyle lovingly nudges shoves me out of my slumber to shut off the beeping. 4:30 am – Jillian Michaels makes me regret seeing the sunrise with weights and cardio. 5:00 am – Shower time. 5:15 am – I sip on coffee… Read more >
