Back in action

It takes just one full day of my regular hippie eating to get me back in the swing of things.  Today was perfect.  I started the day with foamy coffee and a massive bowl tupperware of oats.  Explanation behind the use of tupperware?  Well, I had planned on making overnight oats for work the previous day, but I completely forgot about it in the morning.  (It’s already a challenge for me to transport my regular pre-packed lunches, so adding another tupperware was the straw that broke the camel’s back my backpack) Forgetting the oats worked… Read more >

My path to semi-vegan-ness

In continuing the Q&A session…the next question on the agenda is why and how did I come to be vegan? I figure if you know me in real life or read on a semi-reg basis, you know how I eat.  Vegan shmegan.  I’m not big on labels, and my food preferences are more motivated by how my GI system reacts, not so much my personal feelings on consuming animal products.  That said, this answer requires far more extensive background info, so I’ll start from the beginning.  My mom is (was) a vegetarian and raised the… Read more >

Ode to the in-laws

It’s no wonder people are scared of their significant other’s parents; with movies like Meet the Parents, in-laws get a pretty bad rap.  Fortunately for me, this stereotype couldn’t be further from the truth.  I just got back from a weekend+ getaway with Kyle’s family and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be joining his family than if they were the sole heirs to the Whole Foods chain.  Not only are they amazingly accepting of my vegan lifestyle, but they go above and beyond to accommodate it, to the point of straight up spoiling me!… Read more >

La Manzana Grande

This post title is in honor of my spanglish sistah and my visiting foodies.  But first and foremost, I just wanted to say that re-reading my last post made me feel so whiney.  Not a fan.  I definitely did not mean to sound all “woe-is-me” and “there’s-no-rest-for-the-weary” because I’m going to be working on thanksgiving.  So let me explain.  I would definitely head home if I could – the more family time the better!  Kyle actually headed home Sunday morning, which I very much encouraged him to do (why not take as much time off… Read more >

How was your night?

Mine was fabulous.  Kyle may or may not kill me for posting that picture.  But it’s worth it.  I had to show you all how adorbz my beau is! Getting serenaded while eating an apple/cinnamon dessert on the late night – is there a better way to spend your Friday night?  I think not. But back to the AM. Breakfast of champions indeed.  I really tested my stomach’s expansion ability with this one.  First of all that coffee mug was the size of my head (and I had 2 of ‘em filled to the brim),… Read more >
