Mother’s Day weekend

What an amazing weekend.  Not just because I got showered with love.  With or without Mother’s Day, this past Saturday and Sunday were just plain awesome. Kyle was down in LA on Friday for a conference, so I was solo parenting again. I broke the fast with a bowl of overnight oats.  Man, it’s been a while since I made these!  I basically just added boiling water to some oats the night before, along with a few big spoons of peanut butter.  Then I stirred it all up and left it in the fridge so… Read more >

Progress pics & the week in food

May already!  The time flying by is even more noticeable now that I have a kiddo who gets bigger by the day second.  Most of his weight is going to his cheeks, which I love love love. Oh, hey, I can grab rings, no biggie. This week was a busy one for us as we were out of town all last weekend.  Lots of things to still get straightened away in setting up our house.  Ugh!  Moving takes forever.  Also, Kyle left mid-week for a bachelor party (yes, the festivities began on Wednesday).  So we… Read more >

Ten Reviews

Here are some products I’ve tried lately. Some were bad, some were okay, some were good, and some were awesome. So I figured I’d share. I have no affiliation with any of these companies. These are simply my honest opinions.   1. Tazo vanilla rooibos parfait (from Starbucks) Because I like my tea really (almond) milky, I’m always on the lookout for new decaf varieties that aren’t fruity and don’t have mint or chamomile in them (the two herbal flavors I am not a fan of).  It’s surprisingly hard to find.  And lately fennel is… Read more >

More Nor Cal love

For the first time since we arrived in Nor Cal, Kyle was able to sleep in spend the day with me (and not working). Sleeping in is a thing of the past. I made Kyle breakfast first while he got in some baby time.  He misses P so much when he’s gone. That toast I made him is Semifreddi’s sour batard.  One of the best breads in the Bay Area in my opinion. My breakfast was later because I was working on my dandy tea (still no GI upset with it, so that’s good). In… Read more >

Meals I’m excited about

Sometimes I get bummed out when I realize over the course of the day I’ve basically eaten nothing but toast with Earth Balance, bananas with nut butter, and crackers with hummus.  In large quantities.  These foods are delicious and healthy, yes.  But inspired?  Not so much.  Which is why this simple but different lunch made me so very happy.    I got rainbow chard at the farmer’s market and decided I had to use it in more ways than just a salad (or sandwich ingredient).  I’ve done both of those things with it already, but… Read more >
