Making breakfast at night for the next day is dangerous. Because no matter how full you are, the aroma of baked stuff is just too powerful. This is Kyle’s reaction to the strata coming out of the oven. He said (and this is a real quote) “I’m just going to take this upstairs into bed with me now, okay?”. Uh, no. Not okay. “Pleaseeeee?” The weird part was how much this smelled like butter. As it was baking, I checked on it a few times (more times than I normally would have) because it… Read more >

A day after we returned home from Nor Cal, this huge box arrived from Chobani! CHO ho ho! It’s like a never ending holiday season. 🙂 It was kinda the divine intervention needed to get my butt in gear, since we were still in the planning stages of weekly meals (aka we hadn’t yet been to the grocery store after a week out of town). Truth be told, I was not in the mood to cook or to go shopping for food or to plan out the weekly menu, but the fridge was in… Read more >

Kyle’s coworkers tease him (in a fun, non-mean way) about his healthy vegetarian lunches. Apparently he’s the organic, non GMO hippie of his office, just like I am in mine. 🙂 Now his colleagues are wondering when I’m going to start packing food for all of them. Which I’m considering a victory for veggies everywhere. Thanksgiving leftovers on quinoa. Oatmeal & snacks. Spaghetti. Crock-pot potato chowder (recipe coming). Pita SB&J with organic Swanson sunbutter and home-made pluot plum jam. 18 Rabbits gracious granola packet with organic vanilla greek yogurt. Scrambled mish… Read more >

This product right here was reason enough for me to go against my usual standards and indulge in non-organic greek yogurt. I only bought two, proving that self restraint does in fact exist within me. It’s tangy, tart, and only slightly sweet with hints of ginger and orange. I loved it. Had Kyle not been shopping with me, we’d probably have 500 in our fridge right now. I wonder how long they’ll have these seasonal treats in stock? Runner up in the pumpkin department goes to this coffee blend. Still obsessed. Next item on… Read more >

Necessity is the mother of invention. At least that’s how the phrase goes. Desperation is more like it… The other night was just a typical night in the scheme of my pregnancy. I wasn’t craving anything remotely healthy, but I also couldn’t figure out what I even wanted to eat. Even though we had plenty of options in the fridge, I wasn’t feeling any of it. Kyle made himself dinner, but I didn’t want what he was having either. So I held out, waiting for my appetite to reveal itself. Finally I decided I wanted… Read more >
