Chocolate is my friend

I think your taste buds must change over time because four years ago I thought nuts were disgusting and really wasn’t a fan of dark chocolate.  At all. I am still iffy on super dark chocolate (nothing over 80% thankyouverymuch), but I adore salty cashews and crave almond and peanut butter almost daily.  But that’s neither here nor there.  <— pointless tangent much? For the people who (still) don’t like nuts, this recipe is for you.  It’s also for my fellow chocoholics. How cute are these mini chocolate chips? What I ate (last) Wednesday

Umm, I still have last week’s food on my computer.  Sooo, that’s weird.  It’s been a while since I’ve blogged an entire day’s eats (so many recipes!).  Why not share 24 hours full of food?  [or whatever portion of the day I was awake] I woke up at 4:30 for work because I’m crazy and like shorting myself an hour of sleep to exercise before I’m on my feet for 12 hours straight.  Helloooo sarcasm.   On the way to work (at 6:25 am) I enjoyed a [raw] Cardamom Almond Biscotti by TwinCakes Bakery.  I… Read more >

Twelve-nola

First recipe of 2012 comin’ atcha!    It’s fitting that it’s a granola recipe…me being a hippie and all.  Granola recipes are also my specialty.  I think I’ve pretty much mastered the balance of sweet, crunch, and hearty.  At least in my opinion.  Go ahead and make it and let me know what you think. Protein Power Crunch *high protein *gluten free *vegan (if eggs omitted) *FODMAPS friendly Ingredients: 1 cup whole rolled oats 1 cup uncooked quinoa 1/2 cup raisins 1/2 cup almond slivers 2 tbsp cinnamon 1 egg white (to make vegan sub… Read more >

Yay Area

I’ve managed to create my own personal Twelve Days of Christmas: 12 hours night shift-ing 6 miles bike riding 10 minutes showering 0 seconds sleeping 350 miles I-5-ing 2 stops for peeing HOME SWEET HOME!   We arrived to an empty house (family was out seeing the new Sherlock Holmes movie), but it still felt warm and home-y thanks to the decorations. I immediately raided my parents’ kitchen (as I do whenever I get home). It’s a hippie dream come true! The winner of all snacks?   Trader Joe’s Iced Triple Ginger Biscotti Hell to… Read more >

Full Friday

Forget this Black Friday business, I’m too stuffed to function. I am actually having a hard time looking at the food photos I have from Thanksgiving…but the pictures of the kiddos…I could look at those all day.   It may be a while before I can comfortably post Thursday’s meal(s), but I have pre-feast work food to share.   First up, a peanut flour/oat breakfast.    In addition to oats and peanut flour, I stirred in some home-made granola and chia seeds as well.  Sometimes my breakfast bowls look semi-watery and I occasionally get questions… Read more >
