My second night shift was as uneventful as my first (just the way I like it). I did feel like a vampire though, not just because I was awake all night, but because I was constantly waking my patients up to suck draw their blood. I try to cluster my care so they get as much rest as possible, but when multiple labs are required throughout the shift, it makes it hard (on them and me). Ah well, what can ya do? There’s little that makes me happier than troponins trending down. Ok, that’s not… Read more >

I worked Saturday, but had Sunday and Monday off. Wee! Let’s fly through Saturday so I can show the fun stuff. I got up at 4:30 am to work out. It was mediocre since I had a headache. I don’t know that my heart rate got up since there wasn’t any cardio going on, but I did some weight stuff, resistance bands, and yoga/stretching for 30 minutes. You know what this means, right? It means the baking bug hit. It means the kitchen smelled fan-f$%#ing-tastic today. It means I finally sent off the great fundraising act quinoa granola winner’s package. [about effing time Elise] It means the apartment will have lingering coconut scents for the next few days…or until I next steam broccoli. 😉 Oops! Well, it was nice while it lasted. Baking for others feels like a transfer of love. Or a practice of self control. I sampled the three clusters that escaped. And that’s all! Let’s hope the postal… Read more >

My meals have been pretty bizarre lately so don’t say I didn’t warn you. I have no clue how this meal was born. It came out of nowhere and makes no sense. At first I thought I wanted sweet oats (my normal breakfast thang). But then I saw some leftover tofu and said to myself “why not!” I added chai tea to my oats along with half the block of tofu and mashed them all up together. Then I figured to go full on savory and add in some veggies, nutritional yeast, and Bragg’s… Read more >
