Flashback Friday: Hawaiian honeymoon

Who says reminiscing has to be reserved for Fridays, right?  Flashback Saturday anyone?  Today is my birthday, so try and let it slide…  While I huff and puff my heavily candled (28!!) vegan birthday cake, I hope you’ll enjoy reading about our tropical luna de miel. Kyle and I got married on Saturday, August 28th. On Monday the 30th we headed off to Kauai for the most relaxing week of vacation ever.  Our trip started at 4 am (Pacific time), and we didn’t arrive in Hawaii until 5 pm (Island time).  In case you were wondering… Read more >

Kane have some more

In case you were unaware, I really love sushi.  I’ve always loved sushi.  When I moved from CA to NYC, I stopped eating fish because I didn’t like the idea of not knowing from where where it came.  Responsibly-caught, fresh-from-the-Pacific fish, however, is ok by me.  So now that I’m back on the West Coast, I’ve been more open to re-introducing fish into my diet.  Kinda.  Sushi is currently one of the only ways I will eat fish.  And although I can count on one hand the number of sushi outings I’ve had in the… Read more >

Rehearsal recap

If you’re sick of all the wedding posts, you may as well skip this one too.  Ok just kidding.  I promise there are no photos of me in a white dress, but I do feel obligated to do a post featuring the delicious cuisine from our rehearsal dinner.  This is a food blog after all. Faz is a gem of a restaurant.  It’s located in Danville – on the cutest street – and showcases classic Mediterranean food.  As if I’d have a rehearsal dinner that didn’t feature hummus!?!  Puh-leez.  So after practicing this… …we all… Read more >

Garden Therapy

Moving back to CA, one of the things I was most looking forward to was having a balcony.  A balcony allows me to have two very important things: 1) a BBQ 2) a garden Ok, it’s not quite a garden, yet.  But it’s getting there… As an early birthday present from my in-laws, I got organic rosemary, basil, and thyme to give my green thumb a jump start.  Since it was raining the other day, I was in a zen kind of mood.  I blasted classical music on the iHome and got to work repotting… Read more >

Restaurant week LA

I know yesterday’s AM eats weren’t well documented at all, but I promise to make up for it with yesterday’s dinner. It’s restaurant week!! Three courses complete with wine pairings (included in the price no less) for $34.  You can’t turn that down. I was initially going with Ethel, my FPIC, but Kyle got out of school early and decided to join us. There were so many restaurants participating…it was a hard choice, but in the end we settled on La Grande Orange (mostly because of how fun it was to say in a ridiculous… Read more >
