Parties & Dates

After a long work week, Kyle and I soaked up the weekend like two sponges.  And of course, I’m only just now getting around to blogging about it.  So pathetic.  But let’s just pretend this is timely and the weekend was yesterday, okay? Starting with a Friday date night at Whole Foods.   He got off work before I did so he walked from our apt and met me there once I peaced out of the hospital.   I had salad bar ADD, but eventually got myself squared away with a monster salad – complete… Read more >

Balzac

I forgot to mention how my bar stash came to the rescue during our two hour tour through the Reina Sofia. My dad’s blood sugar was bottoming out, so he asked if I had anything on hand.  I always have bars on hand, especially when traveling to less veg-friendly places, so that’s how my Corazonas chocolate chip oatmeal square met it’s final fate.  It didn’t hold him over long though, so it’s a good thing dinner was on the horizon. Balzac is a 10 minute walk from the museum (15 if you don’t know where… Read more >

Flashback Friday: Hawaiian honeymoon day 5

One of the things Kyle and I were most looking forward to on our honeymoon was getting pampered.  Couples massages?  Holler.  So we decided to treat ourselves to an hour long rub down at the Anara Spa.  It was heavenly.  Not that I had much stress to relieve, but it was gone at the end regardless.  Then we got coffee and broke the fast.  What’s Malasada you ask?  Basically Hawaiian donut holes.  The pampering continued when we set up shop in our private beach front cabana.  Just for us…all day long… With this view. The… Read more >

Flashback Friday: Hawaiian honeymoon day 3

After a few days of exercise-free vacationing, Kyle and I were both ready to get our fitness-faces on.  So our third day in Hawaii started with an hour long total body conditioning class offered by the Anara Gym & Spa.  It was hard and left us both sore and sweaty – in a good way.  :)  After that we had brunch by the pool.  I got the same tofu salad from the first day (no photo), and Kyle got a cheesy grilled chicken burger.  I don’t have many blog-able pics from the rest of the… Read more >

Flashback Friday: Hawaiian honeymoon day 2

On our second day in Kauai, we decided to venture to another part of the island for a hike.  The weather was on and off drizzle and rain, so it’s a good thing we didn’t go with the convertible rental…  Nature lovers. Waimea Canyon was breathtaking.  I’ve never seen a canyon before and it was a pretty cool phenomenon.  At 10 miles long, 1 mile wide, and more than 3,500 feet deep, it is the largest canyon in the Pacific and truly a dramatic sight.  But almost as thrilling was the number of roosters.  It… Read more >
