how nutty

Sometimes I’m a walking contradiction.  Case in point: nuts are not my thing, nut butters on the other hand, are TOTALLY my thing.  I am not very vocal about my distaste for nuts, because, well, frankly, it’s a bit embarrassing in this food blog community.  But today, I broke out of my shell (pun intended) and had my first nut milk experience.  **A HUGE thanks to everyone who commented with recommendations on my previous post about non-milk milks.** As for the almond milk…It was…interesting?  I can’t even think of any way to describe it.  Definitely… Read more >

oranges, oranges, oranges

Overdose alert!!  I kinda went crazy with the naranjas today (fyi that’s oranges in Spanish).  So now that I’ve fulfilled Elise’s daily cultural lesson for all you non-espanol-ers out there, I’ll continue on with today’s post.  Gringo, much?   I made this one with soymilk, but I am SO excited to go shopping today for a new non-milk milk.  Can I just say how amazing this blogging community is?!?  Seriously, I have a question, and I turn to you all, and voila, answer! sunny weekend

I LOVE warm weather.  And being that this was the first nice weekend we New Yorkers have had this season, I decided to take advantage.  Obviously, I wasn’t the only one with this brilliant idea…apparently the rest of New York was on the same wavelength. I wish I had a photo of Central Park…the great lawn was PACKED like nothing I’ve ever seen.  Not an INCH to spare! “Not an square to spare.” – anyone? AM Montage: frothy java, chobz, & coconut date rolls I went on a supah long run in the Park before… Read more >

fat hippo

This morning I woke up to Kyle crawling into bed.  “What time is it?” I asked…to which he replied “You have to get up in 10 minutes.”  WHAT!? He was working on this deal until 5:05 AM, but guess what?  IT’S DONE!!!  And my STUD of a fiancé was the leader of the entire project.  Sorry, I just had to brag a bit, now that I’m finally able to discuss it, and not sworn to SUPER secrecy. ANYways… New bread!  Okay, maybe not new new, because I would never stray from my beloved Alvarado Street,… Read more >

bye bye beijing

Hooray!  My boyfriend is back 🙂 We (sorta) slept in, but first thing upon waking, Kyle made us some nice frothy American coffee.  I think he missed the ‘bucks while in China.  Check out the MASSIVE mug he brought me home (I have an obsession with huge coffee mugs, especially Starbucks’ mugs from different cities). Brekkie: Soynut butter on whole wheat tortillas.  Look at all those delish grains and flax seeds!  I love this brand of tortillas! I also had a blueberry Chobz.  I am really loving these flavored ones.  I think blueberry is my… Read more >
