Even with a huge cup of frothy coffee, the morning still sucked. After reading that Sarah decided it was time to bow out of the food blog world (darn creepers stalking her lovin family) I knew I needed something more substantial than my normal cup of joe! So I dried my tears and busted out the blender. This Amazing Grass smoothie contained half a plain greek yogurt (Chobani of course), half a frozen banana, almond milk, and a chocolate-y packet of lawn shavings. I stirred melon and dried cranberries into the rest of the… Read more >

I was sloshing the morning away with all this liquid love. I’m a certified Amazing-Grass-a-holic. Chocolate luuurrve. By the way, this smoothie was made with frozen bananas and plain greek yog, and was the BEST version yet. I wish my blender actually crushed ice the way blenders are supposed to…for some reason I keep getting to the bottom of my “blended” drinks to discover 4 ice cubes balls with the corners knicked off…I guess I’ll just have to make do with this one until next summer because we have no room in our kitchen (or… Read more >

The first law of thermodynamics states that heat is a form of energy, which can be transferred, but never created nor destroyed. The second law of thermodynamics states that the entropy of the universe always increases. The third law of thermodynamics implies that it is impossible to cool a system all the way to exactly absolute zero. Sure, it may seem weird to start a post with a science lesson, but like most other things in life, it can also be applied to food… 1. Heat is a form of energy?! Hell yeah it is!… Read more >

As promised, I had a chocolate-y delicious Amazing Green concoction for dessert Wednesday night. Notice the blender top? Yes, I went for a more ambitious drink, and blended in ice and half a frozen banana to achieve the perfect chocolate banana dessert. And I thought my high school weekend job would never come in handy! Look at me now Jamba! Anyways, as always, I packed my lunch for work, which included the same cast of characters… Dried apples, dried mango, english muffin with it’s other half (hummus), choc/chip/peanut odwalla bar (see nutritionals above), apple, salad. I… Read more >

What would Jillian do? Not to sound lemming-like, but that’s kinda how my mind has been operating lately. I don’t think it’s necessarily a bad thing either, since she’s pretty much on the pulse with healthy and hippie-esque trends. Paraben free soap – check! Formaldehyde free mouth wash – check! You get the point…but hormone free hygiene products aren’t the only thing she draws attention to. It would take an entire post to profess my serious amor for Jillian Michaels. She’s amaze. But don’t worry, I won’t. Instead, I’ll just throw out some shameless plugs. (I’ve… Read more >
