Following other people’s recipes

For all the recipes I find in cookbooks, magazines, and blogs, I don’t make very many!  I’d say they serve as inspiration mostly.  My taste preferences usually then guide me in tweaking things to make them how I want them. But in the past few months I’ve been drawing blanks in my kitchen (I crave nothing and because of this I cannot for the life of me create menus in advance). So basically I have been (a) remaking my faves over and over (and over) again; and (b) (finally) making things I’ve starred from these… Read more >

This week past and future

Last I left off was my birthday dinner.  The next day we went to brunch at La Boulange.  Mine is the salad on the right.  Odd for a breakfast choice, but the taste buds wanted it. Sudwerk with sister

My sister is already back in Australia, but I still have to recap her visit to Davis last week.   Because the pics are cute and because I am trying to be accountable.  Remember?   Oh, and because this happened.  Yup.  So let’s start at the beginning.  I woke up, did the shred level 1 and made breakfast.   Two slices of banana bread and a fried egg.  While I ate, Kyle went to the MD.  Since we moved I figured we should both get seen for a routine checkup (and meet) with our new… Read more >

Third year cookies

Blueberry Chocolate Chia Pudding

Since summer is berry season, I’ve been unable to hold back when I see cartons of them for super cheap at the farmer’s market.  It’s getting to be a problem.  But honestly, they’re so bright and beautiful!  So I have been freezing lots of them so I can have fresh organic summer berries year round.  Even though I’m front loading the cost now, I’m pretty sure it’ll end up being cheaper than buying frozen organic fruit in winter.  Plus this fruit is at it’s height of ripeness.  You can’t get that in the freezer aisle….
