Last week I had one of those days where my appetite just wouldn’t quit. I hate those kinds of days, honestly. They either mean my metabolism is psychotically fast (here’s hoping!) or I’m nursing a tapeworm (shudder). Unfortunately, I didn’t handle it in a healthy or mindful way. My stomach seemed to be growling constantly, so I took advantage of it and (ultimately) went overboard. I wasn’t going to blog about it (because, quite frankly, the actual eats weren’t exactly newsworthy), but then I realized how I reacted the following day was worth sharing with… Read more >

Last time I was home, my mom taught me how to make freezer jam (in the microwave no less). She was all done with the raspberry and apricot batches by the time I decided to document the process, but she still had the plum left to go. And so I present to you, my mom’s simple (read: fool proof) method for making freezer jam. *Freezer jam doesn’t require sterilization, so the jars must be stored in the freezer or consumed immediately after being made. Ingredients fruit (raspberries, plums, apricots, peaches, anything) pectin (my mom uses… Read more >

After the long work weekend, I was looking forward to sleeping in on Monday, but my internal clock didn’t get the memo. Instead I embraced it and got to work on my day’s tasks. After coffee #3, I turned to some grub. Protein pancakes are all the rage right now…and I had to see what all the fuss was about. I’m not sure where this trend actually started, I seem to see them multiple times a day on various blogs, so to whoever coined the recipe first, I tip my hat to you. The stats… Read more >

I won’t make you wait ‘til the end for this one…it’s GIVEAWAY time! Remember back when I showed you guys these cute Goody Green bags? They are especially cool because they go from the tiny folded up clutch (on the left), to the big carry-all (on the right), which is perfect for the spontaneous shopper. So say you go to Whole Foods thinking all you need is an avocado…and wind up with a basket full of $60 worth of groceries (just a hypothetical), if you have the Goody Green bag in your purse, it’s no… Read more >

First coffee, then we’ll chat. OK. I know I’ve been withholding my big news for a while now, but the time has come to spill the beans. For many of you, this won’t come a surprise, but Kyle and I have been trying to make our way back to the West Coast for a while now. Obviously, with the economy on the fritz, and both of us having great jobs here in NYC, heading back home to CA isn’t going to be the smoothest transition. However. As I have talked about ad nauseum in the… Read more >
