Econ 101

Question: In the current economy, how do you avoid associating food with $? I can’t help but feel like NOT finishing my meal is the exact same thing as wasting money.  Like, unless I polish off my plate, I’m basically throwing my hard earned cash down the drain. Jillian once mentioned she had this problem, but her solution wasn’t realistic in my opinion.  I’m not talking about portions served to me while dining out.  In my opinion, going to nice restaurants is a luxury and is all about the experience (so the high(er) prices are… Read more >

Oot and aboot

No need to send out the search dogs, I’m alive and well.  In the last few days I’ve been hanging out with with my sis and working.  I worked the past two days, and Laura left to return to CA today (tear).  In the interest of just getting up to date, I’ll limit Tues through Thurs to the very upmost blog-worthy parts.  Not that everything I write isn’t thrilling… Me + Laura + WF lunch + central park = happy day The sun was BLAZING, so the photos were all soopah bright.  In case your… Read more >

Mediterranean is my middle name

Sadly Saturday was not a sleep in day.  We had to get things moving bright and early, so clearly a sunrise java run was in the cards.  After meeting with our (now confirmed) wedding photographer we hit up the 23rd St/7th Ave Whole Foods.  It was only 11, but Kyle signed us BOTH up for a joint training session with his trainer at 2 pm and I needed to give my tummy digesting time. Whole Foods’ Mediterranean hot bar was calling to me in a MAYJ way!  Oh how I love falafel!  I had the… Read more >

1 shift, 2 shift, 3 shift, floor!

I’m exhausted with a capital “E” after the last 3 days of work I’ve had.  I shouldn’t complain since I had 4 days off in a row while my sister was visiting, but man was it difficult to go back to such a chaotic scene.  Tuesday’s shift whizzed by so fast I was playing catch up for 12 hours straight (the unit was good busy, not shoot-myself-in-the-head busy), on Wednesday I cried (more on THAT later…), and Thursday I was called to the ICU to cover a patient who had taken a turn for the… Read more >

My neck AND my back

Remember that horribly inappropriate song??  Well, today I had an appt with an Osteopaedic MD who specializes in the spine.  I’ll get into the deets later, but rest assured, I’ll be making some changes so I don’t end up looking like this by my 30th birthday.   I started the day with coffee. Doesn’t that beautiful foam make you wanna dive right into it?  Flowers for Algernon is my latest read, btw, although my wait to see the MD was so short I didn’t even need it!  NYU Joint Disease knows how to treat their… Read more >
