It’s getting to the point where making my meals are almost Top Chef challenges. The fridge is nearly bare, save for some lingering leftovers and oddities that have been hiding in the back for quite some time. Case in point, this yves veggie cuisine meatless deli turkey. When I first went vegan, I used to make sandos out of this stuff (or some similar brand) all the time. I had completely forgotten about it until I discovered it the other day. Since I haven’t had real deli meat in years, this mock meat… Read more >

The flood actually started Sunday morning, and after four unreturned calls to our landlord we took matters into our own hands and began calling plumbers. Apparently Sundays aren’t ideal for your pipes to burst because we called every plumber in Santa Monica and nobody returned our calls…until 30 minutes later. We finally got one guy to agree to come look at the sink…after putting down a $100 deposit. He didn’t arrive until 75 minutes later. At that point we had several drenched towels and one full a$$ bucket. He “worked” on the leak for… Read more >

I was going to try to do a WIAW post, but I just couldn’t get it together in time. Or photograph everything. Here’s some of my “what I ate wednesday week” in bullet points. Monday Coffee. Duh. My GF loaf is going fast and I still never even showed it’s birth. Sunbeam and Bob’s Red Mill make bread making pretty effortless. Unfortunately due to the garbanzo bean flour, my GI system was not very pleased with the final product. Tasty? Yes. Bloating? Very. It took a bit of trial and error with other… Read more >

Since it’s currently a million and four degrees in Los Angeles, our apartment is in the upper billions range (overhead fans don’t do too much). Stove top oats were definitely not happening and I hadn’t prepped overnight oats, so my Friday morning started with this beaut. Plain greek yogurt, golden delicious apple, 365 waffle square cereal, peanut butter and cinnamon. I have mentioned my main cereal “issue” before (the inability to finish fewer than four bowls in a single sitting), but I have another one. I’m not sure if anyone else has this problem, but… Read more >

Since I am working all day shifts this month (hooray!) I have been doing my usual 4 am rise-and-shine before work. Taking Jillian on at the crack of dawn may seem crazy to most people, but I feel like a bada$$ when I’m done. So worth it. Since I did level 3 of The Shred the previous day, I decided to switch it up on Wednesday. I buy fitness magazines from time to time (they are my rare grocery store check-out treats), but I never do the workouts inside. Not that I’m an expert… Read more >
