Looks like I brought the sunny CA weather back East with me, huh? Let’s hope it lasts. My camera died mid-lunch prep, so only 75% of my pre-packed eats are shown below. Ellie’s presents came in handy with my lunch prep. First up, the Tokyo Seaweed Salad, which I chose because I had extra Arame seaweed to use from yesterday’s lunch. I mixed the rest of the arame (on the left) with half the Tokyo Seaweed salad and added it to a fistful of spinach. I added raisins after the photo because it looked too… Read more >

Seriously, I hope I’m not boring you all, but this trip home was so epic, that even the Cliff’s notes version is miles long… I guess I will continue from where I left off (Saturday PM). Since the Nike half marathon started at 7 am (and I had no desire to commute into the city before that ungodly hour) I stayed at my sister’s apartment the night before. At least something positive came out of last month’s half marathon pre-race disaster (i.e. 4 am wake up calls are NOT conducive to a happy hippie). Spooning… Read more >

The veggies: time to clean the cobwebs pots and pans out of the oven (woohoo for seasonal squash) Speaking of seasonal cooking…I ADORE my… Read more >

I don’t think I need to explain the above title if you wasted your morning the same way I did tuned into the Real Housewives of NY. I was up at the crack of dawn thanks to a text message from Jess at 6 am. Awesome. Payback’s a bitch Jess, so prepare yourself for a 2 am drunk dial from the west coast this weekend… Needless to say I was jonesing for some caffeine shortly after. I messed the froth up on this one, but that’s what happens when you are brewing in the dark… Read more >

This morning I woke up to Kyle crawling into bed. “What time is it?” I asked…to which he replied “You have to get up in 10 minutes.” WHAT!? He was working on this deal until 5:05 AM, but guess what? IT’S DONE!!! And my STUD of a fiancé was the leader of the entire project. Sorry, I just had to brag a bit, now that I’m finally able to discuss it, and not sworn to SUPER secrecy. ANYways… New bread! Okay, maybe not new new, because I would never stray from my beloved Alvarado Street,… Read more >
