Synch the schedule

Sunday’s commute back down the I-5 was, well, whatever.  It’s done, so there’s not much to say about it.  I had packed many food options for the road since I was convinced it was going to take us 8 hours.  In the end, we arrived by 2 pm. I’m pretty sure I was meant to be a Brit because in my book, 2 pm is – without fail – afternoon tea time (not to be confused with high tea, which in fact is dinner-time tea).  In any event, I had an almond milky Tazo chai tea… Read more >

New scheduling

Yup, it’s back to le grind.  12 hour shifts require lots of tupperwared options…and as you all know by now, I’m quite the preppy prep-ster over the weekends.  Glad my type-A ways inspired some of you to do the damn thang, too.  Left: spinach salad with roasted veg (brussels, carrots, broccoli, delicata squash) Right: quinoa with chopped pear, raisins, cinnamon & PB dressing (PB flour and almond milk) It’s a fairly simple dish, but dang am I obsessed. OBSESSED! Oh hey, look at that.  Never seen this guy before. Oh wait, that’s right, I’ve had it… Read more >

It’s my weekend and I’ll blog if I want to

Phew! Just finished a string of shifts at the hospital and I’m ready to start my weekend.  So this Friday will be a day of catch up – I’m mega behind in all parts of life, including blogging.  Last time I checked, blogging about Sunday’s meal on Thursday is…what’s the word?…ah yes, a lost cause.  The Foodbuzz festival was no ordinary situation, though.  I scored a whole lotta swag that I can’t wait to share with all y’all.  For instance, this cute lil bugger. A Frog Hollow Farms pear.  I had never heard of Frog… Read more >

Flashback Friday: Hawaiian honeymoon day 4

Our fourth day of honeymoonin’ started like the rest… Beachy keen.  But after soaking up some rays and a few cups of coffee, we headed to the tennis courts for a complimentary hour of professional play horse play.  You see, at this point we were deeply immersed in the US Open…funny how you can get so inspired by seasonal sports.  Sadly, Kim Clijsters’ brilliance doesn’t automatically translate to skill.  At least we were evenly amateur (the first set took up the entire hour because we kept going into tiebreak). Anyways, we returned to the hotel,… Read more >

Bundles of mash

Last night I had dinner with my girls, Ethel and Alene. You’ve met them several times before.  Get to know them, because now that I’m back in So Cal, they’ll be making frequent appearances.  🙂 This was my contribution to dinner.  Pathetic. I did provide the recipe…but not really since it was in fact forwarded to me by my sister from Whole Foods. We kinda went rogue with the directions though…so here’s our adaptation. Photos first, recipe at the end… Arm workout #1 – avocado mashing Arm workout #2 – black bean mashing (source) I… Read more >
