That’ll do

Here’s the nice one.  The thought-out, put-together, balanced bowl of veggie goodness. And here’s the, uh, “special” one.   The what-do-we-have-in-the-fridge, too-lazy-to-chop, mish mash pile. Both do the job though right? [By “job” I mean, provide my body with quality vitamins and minerals]   Here’s the details on the pretty one. Veggies: spring greens (silly that the mix is called that since it’s winter everywhere else but Los Angeles) & carrots   Protein: morningstar chik’n nuggets & quinoa Dressing: BBQ sauce I made this same medley for lunch, twice in a row, before the… Read more >

Wings ‘n things

I never thought the day would come when I’d try to vegan-ify a dish served at hooters…but I guess stranger things do happen. Never in my life have I tried a buffalo wing.  And without going all Jessica Simpson on you, I’m just going to admit right up front, I have no clue what they really truly are. I mean, they’re meat of some kind (I presume).  Other than that, I’ve got nothin’.  So now that I’ve disclosed that little tidbit, it may seem odd that in October alone I ate (vegan) buffalo wings twice. … Read more >

Weekend of thanks 2012

I know Thanksgiving was ages ago, but I’m only just getting around to uploading photos and such because my week/end was SO packed I couldn’t be bothered to worry about blogging in a timely manner.    Shorts and a tank top in late November…must be Southern California… For the first time in as long as I can remember ever (!!) I got the holiday – PLUS it’s surrounding days – off of work.  Kyle and I took full advantage, and drove down to his parents’ house in San Clemente on Wednesday afternoon, to stay through… Read more >

Mis-schedule

I’ve been very uninspired lately.  In the kitchen, in my day-to-day routine, in lots of ways…I just feel like I’m tired and bored all the time.  It’s weird.  My days off are so lazy.  I read, I draw, I read some more.  But I miss my desire to be in the kitchen.  I don’t know where it’s gone.  Thinking of dinner ideas is hard for some reason.  And it’s never been like that before.  I ask Kyle to suggest things since I seem incapable of coming up with anything other than eggs and toast and… Read more >

Iced tea & grazing

As you can see, I like my iced tea reallly almond milky. How I make it is recipe-free, but I brew pitchers of tea at a time (no sweetener) using 4 tea bags for my 2 liter pitcher.  I add boiling water to it, let it steep for a while then put it in the fridge to cool (but continue to steep) overnight.  In the morning I remove the teabags. Then, each day I pour some over 3-4 ice cubes, and then add maple syrup and unsweetened vanilla almond milk. Sometimes I can get the… Read more >
