Lazy foodie

I was too lazy to make coffee this morning, so I headed to Starbucks to get my java fix…plus I’m way more productive without Bravo in the background.  Although I’m not a big fan of Valentine’s Day, I am enjoying the heart cups.  I busted out an apple after my soy misto. Around noon I headed home for lunch.   Mostly I wanted avocado, so I made sure my meal revolved around that.  BBQ sauce/nooch covered one half of the WF sandwich thin, with avocado lathered on the opposite half. I had a bowl of sweet… Read more >

An anti-atrophy agenda (part 1)

After I started writing, I realized I had more to say than I thought, so it’s gonna be a three part plan (stay tuned).  For now, let’s talk about my tapeworm insatiable appetite.  For the life of me, I couldn’t get my hunger in check the other morning. “Nature is a giver, a true friend and a sustainer.”  The same can be said about Justin’s nutbutter.  On the english muffin was the “classic” almond butter, and DANG, was it tasty.  This is by far my favorite kind of nut butter.  I never thought the day… Read more >

On my laurels

Spaghetti squash mexicana

Originally, this post was featured on my cousin Pattie’s blog, but I figured the recipe was too good to withhold from my regular readers. On that note, I share with you: Spaghetti squash mexicana Now I’m not sure if a black bean & avocado salsa qualifies a dish as Mexican…but that’s the name I’m going with 🙂 As the colder months set in, I’m constantly trying to find a way to marry what’s seasonal and local (on the East Coast) with flavors that are familiar from my upbringing (on the West Coast).  I’m not sure… Read more >

V card

You may or may not remember this, but I have monthly dinner dates with my oldest girlfriends.  We all live in different areas in Manhattan, so in order to get to know each others’ hoods we alternate who chooses the place (forcing me to leave my comfort zone of UWS dining).  This month was MY pick, which was a relief since the past two dinners have taken me an embarrassing amount of time to find (the village is RIDIC confusing and I’m lucky if I end up retracing my steps only 3 times).  Usually I… Read more >
