Mexican Layered Dip

Because (a) I’m without Windows Live Writer (still learning how to get XP on my MacBook), (b) I’m not very savvy with wordpress’ blogging tool, and (c) it’s taking me an hour to load each photo, I’m going to post another photo recipe from last weekend. It’s not like I reinvented the wheel with this one (the recipe is certainly not original), but the photos are pretty and I thought I should share. (Vegetarian) refried beans Black beans. Sour cream. Corn roasted salsa. Four cheese blend. Black beans. Avocado. More avocado. Salsa. Devour. I made the… Read more >

It all evens out

Last week I had one of those days where my appetite just wouldn’t quit.  I hate those kinds of days, honestly.  They either mean my metabolism is psychotically fast (here’s hoping!) or I’m nursing a tapeworm (shudder).  Unfortunately, I didn’t handle it in a healthy or mindful way.  My stomach seemed to be growling constantly, so I took advantage of it and (ultimately) went overboard.  I wasn’t going to blog about it (because, quite frankly, the actual eats weren’t exactly newsworthy), but then I realized how I reacted the following day was worth sharing with… Read more >

Bud Light Bread

How exactly can beer and pizza be healthy?  Well, it depends on how you make them, I guess.  You can use 100% Whole Wheat flour for instance. And light beer. And you can use Brendan Brazier’s recipe for “pizza sauce.” But in the end, all that matters is if it tastes good.  And it did. Last month, I bookmarked a very intriguing recipe from my fave healthy everythingtarian in which she made pizza dough using beer.  If your reaction to this news is anything like mine was, you’re probably chomping at the bit in anticipation… Read more >

The stork dropped off my baby

I was literally jumping up and down with excitement this morning while the FedEx man watched with concerned awe. I own a FOOD PROCESSOR!!!!!!! Months ago when we were filling out our wedding registry, I jokingly referred to this appliance as “the reason we are getting married.”  And since then, it has become clear to Kyle that it was less of a joke than he initially thought… Of course, I’m (mostly) kidding.  I love Kyle with all my heart.  But I’m also a huge foodie and have felt seriously limited for the past few years… Read more >

Seattle continued: Sisters and Skewers

Top of the mornin’ evening to ya!  Day two of our Seattle adventures started with more java loading from The ‘Bucks.  Tall for me, grande for my beau.  How cute is it that Kyle’s drink of choice now is a soy misto? After a liquid kick in the pants, we decided to get ed-ju-ma-cated on the history of Seattle.  Creeping through the depths of downtown worked up quite an appetite.  Lunch time! Initially we had our sights set on an African place called Pan Africa Restaurant on 1st Ave.  We browsed the menu when we… Read more >
