Say yes to seitan

Heat wave much?  I woke up way too early on Monday because I was sweating my cojones off.  I’m not so sure fall has truly arrived after this past weekend of sunshine.  No complaints here! Despite the four fans and six open windows keeping the triple digit temps at bay, I still had my usual vat of coffee.  Can’t fight the addiction! See?  I’m still embracing summer with it’s seasonal fruit.  I am in love with the peaches at the Santa Monica farmer’s market.  We’re nearly out too, so Wednesday’s bounty will definitely include more… Read more >

Back to work

On Thursday my alarm went off and I popped out of bed with a quickness.  You may be wondering why I was so anxious about starting the day… It certainly had nothing to do with the excessively layered outfit I had laid out to wear (of course it’s suddenly 80+ degrees at sunrise the day I have to wear professional attire).  It also had nothing to do with the 25 minute bus ride next to Mister I’m-going-to-broadcast-my-cell-phone-conversation-to-the-world.  As I previously mentioned and then shared via twitter, I was in fact at a follow up job… Read more >

The bigger the better

These past few days have been a bit busy for me…among other things, I’ve been prepping for my follow-up job interview (which is tomorrow – eek!).  Coffee for four.  All for me 🙂 I have been cooking, too, but as you can see, blogging has taken the back burner.  Also, I’ve been having a string of bottomless pit days.  I’m sure you’re familiar.  You know the days when you’re stomach just won’t quit.  Which is all well and good, except that it leaves me with 482 photos to post.  Ugh.  I may as well dive… Read more >

Weekend wining

My previous post left off on Saturday evening…so let me just pick right back up with dinner.  My goal is to eventually taste my way through every restaurant at Santa Monica Place, so we made a reservation at Sonoma wine garden to start our last night out in style.  My previous experience with Santa Monica Place’s dining deck was stellar, so I had high expectations for this meal.    We started with some rather pricey drinks.  They were good, but a bit steep given the sub-par size of the pour.  The amount of wine in our… Read more >

Sisterly love

My sister came to visit this weekend so Kyle and I did our best to show off Santa Monica in all it’s glory.  The weather wasn’t cooperating, but despite the misty cloud cover, it was a weekend packed with fun. Friday morning we hiked to Inspiration Point in Will Roger’s State Park.  By the time we got back it was lunch time and Huckleberry was calling our names. Laura has heard me rave about Huckleberry so many times, it was an obvious choice for lunch. First we split the white bean dip with a slice… Read more >
