Kyle and I are really bad when it comes to seeing movies. We mean to see things and then we just never end up following through. Last month we finally got our act together and went to see My Week with Marilyn. Well, the theatre randomly had a power outage, so after walking all the way down to the Promenade, we just turned back around and walked back home. I’m very embarrassed to reveal what we ended up watching instead. [source] Ummm yeah. We watched a documentary about Justin Bieber. It gets worse. I had… Read more >

Any resemblance this sweet & salty snack has to an eight legged arthropod is completely unintentional. I made them on the late night because I was craving both chocolate and salt at the same time and couldn’t find anything on hand that would satisfy my sophisticated palate. I would rather die before heading to bed with an un-sated appetite, so clearly I had to make something to get my dessert fix. cocoa powder peanut flour water raw almonds pretzel sticks turbinado sugar (or stevia) Mix the cocoa, peanut flour, sugar, salt and water until… Read more >

First recipe of 2012 comin’ atcha! It’s fitting that it’s a granola recipe…me being a hippie and all. Granola recipes are also my specialty. I think I’ve pretty much mastered the balance of sweet, crunch, and hearty. At least in my opinion. Go ahead and make it and let me know what you think. Protein Power Crunch *high protein *gluten free *vegan (if eggs omitted) *FODMAPS friendly Ingredients: 1 cup whole rolled oats 1 cup uncooked quinoa 1/2 cup raisins 1/2 cup almond slivers 2 tbsp cinnamon 1 egg white (to make vegan sub… Read more >

I’m sorry for leaving you all in suspense after the nutty teaser. I made this trio of nut butter spreads for Kyle’s dad… Holiday Spiced Peanut butter Chocolate Cake Almond Butter Coconut Peanut Butter There weren’t really leftovers…mostly because Kyle kept poking his head in the kitchen when he heard the food processor stop…smart boy. But I did make an extra batch of the chocolate one. Because you can never have too much cocoa almond butter. Since we’re on the subject of chocolate, I may as well start with that recipe. Chocolate Cake Almond Butter… Read more >

I have no clue what that title is about. Sorry. I did a lot of baking today and maybe I’m high off the fumes (because vanilla and cinnamon can have that effect right?). This chef-tastic session in the kitchen may have something to do with my breakfast. Gingersnaps make excellent fuel. And by fuel I mean sugar cravings. The problem with having a massive and delicious cookie for breakfast is it sets the bar VERY high for the rest of the day’s food. If you’ve already had dessert nirvana by 9 am, it leaves little… Read more >
