Is sloth really a vice?

I have been putting EVERY effort into helping my body heal, so after several consecutive days of working, I was really looking forward to sleeping in and skipping the gym.  I slothed it up on the couch all day long.  I kid you not.  ALL.DAY.LONG.  What goes with laziness?  TV and grub.  Enter DVR and a marathon of breakfasts. My toast with Smart Balance light (it’s vegan, yo) didn’t hold me over very long, so an hour later I opted for a bowl of granola to supplement my brekkie (and a super overflowing cup of… Read more >

Down with the sickness

I loved hearing about all your PM routines!  Such planners we all are.  Well, most of us… I have to say, it’s a little reassuring to know there are other freaks out there just like me. As I said before, I was kinda behind getting my ducks in a row on Thursday night.  As a result, I expended minimal energy making this lunch (probably a 2 out of 10 on the effort scale).  Basically, I just kept adding more snacks in the hopes that the next day there would be at least something I wanted… Read more >

Let’s get physical

I started the day with a raging headache.  WTF?!  No fair >:( Nothing a little caffeine couldn’t fix, right?  Wrong.  So, I pulled out the big guns Excedrin and distracted myself with brekkie until the meds kicked in. Food = happy hippie.  Not the most inspiring meals.  Sorry. I did make a fabulous lunch to make up for it, though.  Dave’s Killer Bread (I’m down to my last slices, eek!), CAKED with tofummus, spinach, and LightLife’s Smart Deli “turkey.” CAKED I tell ya… See it and weep.  After my tummy was satisfied, I decided to… Read more >

Pack it all in day

I mean this both literally and figuratively.  I was Errands McGee today, and I definitely ate enough to fuel it all.  Sheesh.  Just you wait…you’ll see! I had a lovely morning with a frothy java and scoop ‘o almonds.  YUMMY! Like a five year old, I played with my food a little, too.  I’m so mature.  I got a little sun this past weekend, huh?  Oops!!  Fueled on crack caffeine and nuts, I did some running around town and came home and made a BEAST of a breks. Underneath all the granola, almonds, and fresh… Read more >

1 shift, 2 shift, 3 shift, floor!

I’m exhausted with a capital “E” after the last 3 days of work I’ve had.  I shouldn’t complain since I had 4 days off in a row while my sister was visiting, but man was it difficult to go back to such a chaotic scene.  Tuesday’s shift whizzed by so fast I was playing catch up for 12 hours straight (the unit was good busy, not shoot-myself-in-the-head busy), on Wednesday I cried (more on THAT later…), and Thursday I was called to the ICU to cover a patient who had taken a turn for the… Read more >
