Bombizzle mix and MIX1

I won’t burst into Annie’s theme song, but it’s definitely a relief to see the sun again.  Caffeine + froth = a hop in my step Oddly enough, I started feeling iffy again half way through this HUGE mug, so I curbed the coffee and set my sights on the next meal. I guess meal isn’t the right word, but apples need no justification. Blogging and random dilly-dallying (cooking, emailing, erranding, etc.) around the apartment took up the majority of my morning, and pretty soon noon rolled around and I needed sustenance. I added the… Read more >

Nursing back to health

I feel like I need to play catch up.  As I mentioned in my eco hippie post, I was a bit ill the other day, so my pics were pretty boring.  Here’s a queasy stomach tutorial: First, drown yourself in tea… Then, slowly make your way through as many different carbs as you can get your hands on… Natural antioxidants don’t hurt either… (Thanks to the POM fairy, Ryan, I am stocked for a while, too – score) Mid-day napping is practically a given…on top of several hours in front of the t.v. (i.e. Top… Read more >

Such a tease

This Monday was especially painful because the sun was radiating into my patients’ rooms all day long.  It was heavenly, but I was stuck in the hospital.  So it was agonizingly beautiful.  Such a tease!  At least I had good food to enjoy on my lunch break… Bars, apples, baggies, tupperware.  Fabulous. In the tupp:  spinach, seaweed salad, carrots, broccoli, and pepitas.  To the people who asked, I sometimes make my own seaweed salad, but this one was store bought (you can see a different salad of the same brand here).  Occasionally they have them… Read more >

Gorilla Food in Vancouver

As I have mentioned before, my (future) in-laws are completely supportive and respectful of my vegan lifestyle.  So much so, that they did research before we headed to Vancouver and had a perfect lunch spot all picked out. Gorilla Food is right near Waterfront (where the Olympic rings and torch is), so we took the Skytrain there and then walked the few blocks to the restaurant.  Cute no?  Despite the tree going through the ceiling, the atmosphere was cozy and the staff was really friendly (like the rest of the Canadians we encountered).  The lady… Read more >

Vancouver time

By the time you read this, I am likely in the upper itty-bitty corner of WA chilling at the in-laws casa before heading across the border to Vancouver.  Kyle and I put in a bid for Olympics tix decades ago and, amazingly enough, we got them for a pretty stellar event.  If you keep your eyes peeled to your TV sets during the men’s US v. Canada ice hockey game, I promise I will try my best to do something obnoxious enough to get some air time (think stars & stripes face painting).  I’m currently… Read more >
