Just wanted to let you know what is coming your way… Any guesses? I haven’t forgotten about my alphebruary challenge…I’m just behind in recipe sharing. This “q” treat, however, is VERY worth the wait. I know everyone was wondering how those weird letters were going to be – particularly q, w, x, and z. But shockingly, these haven’t even been my biggest obstacles. There are some surprisingly letters (i, o, u – for instance) with minimal food options. Damn vowels aside, I knew from day one of this month’s adventure that my q dish was… Read more >

Work on Thursday left me mentally drained. I could hardly muster the energy to share the lentil loaf recipe (but it’s effing amazing so I found a way). Sigh. I’m still in a funk but I’ll spare you all and simply show off my packed food. When pears are on their last legs, I get worried that transport will be the kiss of death, and so instead of risking mush upon arrival, I go a different (safer) route. The titles I was considering with the letter “K” would all be flagged as inappropriate if taken out of context, so I will simply say, I had 3 different meals with “K” foods the other day. The first was more of a breakfast snack really. Enjoyed with a home-made cappuccino. Make that a kappuccino (meaning it was dairy-free). I frothed up a full cup of rice milk then heated it and added it to a shot of caffeine. The foam took up half the cup, but the rest of the milk made the most rich… Read more >

This weekend was not my finest in terms of scheduling. With back to back night shifts, day time yoga classes, and the desire to squeeze in a run when the sun came out from hiding, there was hardly any time for sleeping. Ambitious? Or ridiculous? Either way, I snacked much more than I composed real meals because my body was so out of whack with all the time adjustments. Awake all night, asleep all morning, awake all afternoon…sometimes it’s just too confusing for my poor GI system. I wound up finding a solution in… Read more >

Is it just me, or does my coffee froth look like a person running? I could be going crazy. It’s entirely possible. It’s actually the more likely scenario. Still, I couldn’t help but feel like my morning coffee was sending me subliminal messages. I ignored them and went for a bike ride instead. It was AWESOME. Before hitting the road, I had a bowl of oats with a chopped apple. Don’t be deceived by the above photo, though. This batch of oats was anything but average. I bulked up the 1/2 cup rolled oats with… Read more >
