I heard a scary stat the other day.  Did you know that the average American eats 38 salads a year.  A YEAR!  My jaw hit the floor when I heard that.  I have always known Iโ€™m on the more healthy end of the spectrum in terms of eating my veggiesโ€ฆbut I never thought the rest of the nation was THAT far behind me!  Yikes. 

Itโ€™s a good thing there are stevia-sweetened berry green powders like this one to fill in the gaps where salads are MIA.  It has omega-3โ€™s, probiotics, digestive enzymes, trace minerals, and so much more.  But the genius is the delicious flavor that masks the โ€œhealthyโ€ properties.

    Gosh, I probably eat 200+ salads a year, not so many in the cold months but a ton in the summer.
    I sneak in greens by adding spinach or chard to just about every meal I make. Spaghetti, stir fry, burritos, wraps, sandwiches, smoothies etc.

    I also try to eat salads daily..best way to get the veggies in..so probably 300 as well! Another way to get greens in is blending into smoothies, adding to savory oats, or chopping into tuna salad!

    38?!? I’d also be curious to see the number of salads the average man eats vs. the number of salads the average woman eats. I’d say I eat about 225 salads every year….
    My favorite way to get my veggies is to cut up whatever we have in the fridge and bring it with me to work! I also always include a veggie side dish with dinner.

    A) I probably eat about 250 salads a year. Not quite as many as I probably should.. I need to start experimenting with the delicious looking ones on here ๐Ÿ™‚
    B) Adding Kale or Spinach to most everything! Salads, pastas, soups etc… I never really gave Kale a chance until I tried your recipe for the nut butter noodles and its so good I eat it all the time now!

    I get very bored with salad. I’ll be the one to admit it. Sometimes I eat them daily (having salad twice today) and sometimes I don’t eat one for 2 months. I’ll say I double the average, conservatively, so 76.

    Now smoothies are more my thing and that is where I hide my greens. ๐Ÿ™‚

    I probably eat about 75 salads a year. Not so great of a number, but I just prefer cooked vegetables; love roasting them! I also love putting handfuls of spinach in my smoothies.

    I have to admit I’m not a big salad eater. I’m probably actually close to or BELOW that 38 per year! I like my veggies roasted or steamed separately from everything else or mixed in something. I love green monsters, putting cauliflower in macaroni and mashed potatoes, or sneaking some zucchini into lasagna.

    I don’t really have a sneaky way because I have always loved salad and I now love veg so it really isn’t a struggle. But if I’m making food for other people (other than my family, because they also love veg as much as me) I make vegetable stews, currys, stirfrys & ratatouille.

    I’m not sure how many salads I eat in a year..hmm. It varies by season.

    Today I snuck some zucchini into bread. Applesauce, too. I think egg bakes are a good way to sneakily eat veggies. To be honest, my veggies don’t need a sneaking-they’re yummy.

    I probably eat about 150 salads per year. I do eat lots of vegetables, often raw, but not always in salad form. If it were just raw vegetables, it would be closer to 500 times per year!
    I get extra greens by putting them in smoothies or pureed vegetable soup – even my son asks for that.

    Well, I definitely eat enough greens on their own to not have to sneak them in..but I do like to add extra veggies to soups to really bulk them up. Oh, and I just made another batch of bean blondies this morning!

    I eat… 150-200 salads a year. 38, that makes me want to scream and cry. I love getting my greens in smoothies, in burrito bowls (I put spinach on the bottom of the bowl, then smother them in hot black beans), in pasta sauce, soups… But I love the flavor, so I don’t often hide them!

    I like shredding up or julienning a firmer green (cabbage, kale, collards) as a base for veggies/protein, like instead of rice or other grains. I also am on the green smoothie band wagon… yum!

    per year? prolly in the 400ish range. i sneak kale, chlorella and green powder into breakfast via smoothies on average about 4-5 times a week.

    truly hope those of us on the plus sides with our green intake aren’t balancing out the sad ratio of a 38 salad a year average :/ that would mean the SAD diet eaters are really pulling in about 10-15 salads a year. YIKES!

    A sneaky way I get veggies into my diet is putting spinach in lasagna, or peas into spaghetti. You can’t even taste it! However, I CAN taste spinach in smoothies…never liked it!

    I think I eat around 250-300 salads per year BUT I sneak veggies into everything, literally. I fit spinach into every dinner I eat somehow. I love green monsters and love “beefing” ha up any meal with lots and lots of veggies rather it be fajita veggies, lots in spaghetti sauce, mixed in a veggie bowl, roasted, or just raw. I don’t even think of it as sneaking them in because I dont feel right without them!

    I’m closer to the 300+ range per year. If I don’t have a salad pretty regularly my craving for one kicks in hard. As for sneaking in greens, I eat a bag of frozen spinach in one sitting and can decimate a bag of of frozen baby broccoli florets. I love them. I prefer fresh when I can get it. ๐Ÿ™‚

    I absolutely love salads! I usually eat one every day if I can but of course there are days when I’m eating with friends or there are no veggies in the house… I would guestimate that I eat at least 200 salads a year… probably more. I love eating greens… mostly for the texture… massaged kale is INCREDIBLY smooth tasting and it just soaks up the flavor of whatever marinade, oil, dressing or sauce it is soaking in… and I love romaine for the crunch…yum. Green smoothies is a great way to sneak in greens because the fruit masks the taste completely. You can also bake greens into treats. Although personally I would rather eat my veggies and my treats separately (:

    Hi Elise! My favorite way to sneak greens is by adding them to baked goods and I’m not just talking about zucchini in my apple bread. I like to blend bananas with just about any leafy greens (chard, spinach) before adding it to muffins and breads and its delish!

    I think I consume about 400 salads a year…. I’m not even kidding. Salads twice a day happens a lot! I also put spinach or avocado in my smoothies and with almost every sandwich I eat some veggies. The only meal that doesn’t contain veg is breakfast.

    I like to sneak greens into any ‘saucy’ dishes – curry, tagine and casseroles all benefit from a hefty handful of baby spinach stirred in at the last minute! Or I make fritters from finely shaved greens, a little self-raising flour, soymilk and lots of spices. So delicious. ๐Ÿ™‚

    I feel like I should be eating more salads? I don’t really eat a lot of typical salads. But being a vegetarian I always eat a lot of vegetables every day. For breakfast in smoothies, I’m a snacky luncher so a lot of times I just eat raw vegetables and hummus, and dinner’s entree is always surrounding vegetables!

    I would estimate that I eat 548 salads per year (about 1.5 a day–sometimes I have only one salad every day, sometimes I have two). I add spinach to my smoothies, and I love “hiding” the greens in there!

    I make green juice daily, have a green smoothie daily, and add something sweet (ie raisins, fruit) to salads to make them more palatable. Otherwise, I would avoid at all costs!

I’d say I eat ~4 salads per week (I’m not counting quinoa salads or other non greens based salads) so since there are ~52 weeks in a year that means 52*4 ~ 200+ salads per year (I’m imagining good old general chemistry conversion problems while doing this XD) That doesn’t seem like a lot but I eat tons of veggies outside of salads as well.

    B. I like vegetables as they are, I generally don’t have to “sneak them” but I did used to date a guy who wouldn’t eat a vegetable unless I did hide it. I basically had to chop them up into his rice and pasta. I tried putting them in some smoothies but he wouldn’t drink them until I told him what was in them, then he wouldn’t try them after I did tell him!

    a. I’d have to say that I eat about 200 salads a year. I usually eat salads whenever I eat out. I’m not really that adventrous with the dressing so I get kind of sick of them, esepcially at home, so I usually just eat cooked vegetables.

    b. I ALWAYS have at least one smoothie per day and I ALWAYS add a handful of spinach or kale. I also add lots of vegetables into whatever meal I’m preparing, like pasta for example.

    i would say about 3 salads a week…so about 156 salads a year? I do get in a LOT of veggies though…cooked, juicing, smoothies, etc.

    sneaky ways to get in veggies? children love fettucini alfredo…I make mine with vegan with tofu and steamed cauliflower. it’s kid approved and they have NO idea they are eating cauliflower! of course, smoothies and spinach pesto also top my list.

    At least 365 salads/year. I “sneak in” veggies by putting them in EVERYTHING I eat! Fresh spinach can top/be stirred into any entree. Same with frozen veg.

    I try to average 364 salads a year.. but sometimes I can go a whole day without a single green thing in my belly (like yesterday: eggs, toast, cereal, oatmeal, chicken strips, wine: yikes!) So to make up for it, I added a butt load of spinach in my protein smoothie.

    uhhhhhhh i’m guesstimating about 365, give or take a few ;). although some days i’m just not wanting one, especially if its cold.

    i’m debating on making “green monster pancakes,” not that i’m some nutty health psycho trying to see if i can add vegetables into things that are supposed to be sweet and delicious, i just want green pancakes cause it’s my favorite color. i’m thinking one banana+spinach+almond milk, blend ‘er up, then mix into flour+baking powder mix.

    Sneak veggies in? Hmm, I don’t have to sneak them in. I love them too much for them to be hidden! But, if I had to hide them, I guess it would be in a green smoothie! Adding avocado to smoothies makes them even smoother. ๐Ÿ™‚

    I’d say I eat a salad about 2x a week (but I have veggies with lunch and dinner every day =) ), so I guess that puts my salad consumption at about 105 a year? Not too shabby if you consider that there are still servings of veggies 365×2 a year!

    THIRTY EIGHT? Oh my goodness, I would die if I were limited to that little. I probably eat 200 salads a year!
    My sneaky ways include green smoothies and sauteing the veggies so they lose a lot of volume and go down easier.

    I probably eat around 190 salads a year. this year more because I am seriously amping up my veggie intake. my sneaky veggie additions to my diet are by using sprouted beans as candy! and creating sauces that I want to taste with veggies, getting excited about sauce vehicles, which ones would be good with broccoli, which with cabbage or kale etc.

    One (sneaky) way I get in more veggies is opening a big tub o’ hummus. Neither the veggies and the hummus will not survive the encounter… ๐Ÿ˜‰

    When I’m in the mood for warm food, like pasta that doesn’t necesarily have the best green presence, I stir raw spinach into the warm food to cook it down and instantly my greens intake is boosted ๐Ÿ˜‰

    I literally probably eat salads 325 days a year…I actually just had one!! hahaha and that’s not even including pasta salads and fruit salad..if so, I’d say probably every day but like, Christmas!!

    I don’t eat nearly enough salads. I definitely eat far more than 38 a year, but I’d feel better if I ate one every single day. I would guess my number is somewhere around 120 ish…two or three a week at most. I guiltily admit to having the best intentions and throwing those intentions away more often than I should :/
